“Not standard non personal service, staff with personalities”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Stayed here for a local wedding on a Saturdaynight. At check-in was greeted by a rarity in the hotel industry - a personal service from a real human who was able to chat and make you feel welcome (think his name was Tim). It was a most welcome change.

There are 5 floors to this hotel and we were on the top floor. A good thing is the ice dispenser in the corridorThe room was really clean and whilst fairly basic it did have an iron and board and also hairdryer. The toiletries were excellent and had a great shower.

We did find that the room was quite warm but the air con being switched on sorted that out quite quickly.

Perhaps the only negative about the place is that when it came to checking out there was a huge queue for the lift as there are only stairs vailable for Emergencies.

The hotel is situated on a busyish road but there was no sound of traffic or passing noise and the bed was really comfy.

Finally in relation to value for money I would say the cost of the hotel stay was great, though the cost of drinks in bar was a bit high. Well worth a visit if you are in Exeter

Arrived and greeted immediately by the young chap on reception. Swiftly checked in. Room of a good size and bed very comfortable. Had breakfast following morning which ok. Plenty of choice whether you want full English or cold meats, pastries and fruit. All buffet style so help yourself. Location is just a few mins from town and attractions. Exeter Central station is in easy reach as is St Jame's Park Station. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Arrived by train and easily found. We were greeted by a young friendly gentleman on reception who swiftly checked us in. Room was a good size and bed was very comfortable. TV in room not that we really needed it. Also in room is tea/coffee making facilities and an iron. Shower not very powerful but a good temperature. We had breakfast on the first morning and was ok. Plenty of hot choice from cooked English breakfast to cereals, fruit and cold meats.
Nearest rail station is Exeter Central although St James Park is also as close. A few mins walk from Princesshay Shopping Centre.

Very easy to get to. Secure car park over the road (free one behind the hotel if you leave by 8 am). Room was very quiet and comfortable. Unusually, I slept through the night, which is not something I tend to do in hotels.

Breakfast was OK. Went down at 7 am and it was just getting very busy. Staff were having a little difficulty clearing and re-setting the tables, but did their best.

I stayed for a night with a colleague on our leaving do from work. We were able to drop our bags off before we started work and they were waiting for us when we checked in, so then we could have a cuppa and shower and change in comfort , instead of a hurried change in the toilets at work!! The room was very comfortable and we felt no qualms walking back into the hotel around midnight. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, we would both thoroughly recommend this hotel and I have just booked a room again for our colleagues retirement party and look forward to staying there again.

The rooms are fine although a bit small for two people but the hotel is well located and opposite the car park, cinema and close to the bus station. It is also within minutes walk of the city so all-round its not a bad choice and the bar area is pleasant enough too.

Room Tip: Avoid One Facing the main road

Stayed here as part of a tour, the hotel is very very close to the city centre, a 5 minute walk to food and attractions. Check in was very efficiently done, staff were very friendly. Rooms clean and spacious. Only issue is that walls are a bit thin, may be an issue for light sleepers but otherwise okay.
