“Classic Jury’s Inn Style”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Again this is Jury's Inn for you; you will get the same style hotel in all Jury’s inn locations.

Had to work hard to get a smile out the reception staff, but I did in the end, which is great. May be she had a hard day.
Asked about the internet, was advised about the promotion which saved me £10, nice to know.

Room was Ok, clean, tidy, TV was working,

The only negative is, if on a cold or hot day, the hotel should put the air con on for the guest,

I walked into a cold room, but as I was going out for dinner, I left the heater on and came back to a warm room.

Over all, Good/OK

Stayed in this hotel for three nights whilst visiting family in Exeter. On arrival the check in was fairly average, and receptionist was foreign and didn't seem to understand what my partner was saying, we also discovered that they had no parking lot of their own, and we had to park in a paid car park near by (totalling £16 for the three nights.) The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and came with coffee and biscuits and sheets were changed daily, however i found that the were only two plug sockets which was inconveniant as there were three of us. Tv had basic channel and there was wifi which was £5 an hour! However it was £10 for 24 hours. It's very close to the city centre which was helpful as food was very expensive (£5.25 for a sandwich!). It is an ok hotel, good for quick stop overs.

Room Tip: rooms away from elevator are quieter

We arrived on Saturday afternoon to a very slow check in, but otherwise helpful staff. The room was pretty basic, with a small double bed and rather cramped e suite. We opted for the breakfast but again had to wait for tables to be cleared in the crowded dining room. Service could not keep up with demand. Unexceptional, would have been fine for a business stop over but disappointing for a weekend away.

Hotel is around the corner from the coach depot (local bus goes to station every 20 mins), and the centre of the city. Walking distance to Cathedral and many other views of Roman walls and ruins.
I find Jurys increasingly noisy with conference groups. I was on 5th floor and after I complained about a group of loud giggly women causing a ruckus at 4am, was told that the 5th floor is their "quiet" floor and accommodated business delegates - (but you get more than one drunk "delegate" boozing it up in the next room and it gets a bit much.)
The next night I had children next to me - must have been about 3 or 4 8-12 year olds (I looked through the spyhole) who kept running to the ice machine every 5 minutes and playing in the corridor after midnight. As my room had an interconnecting door with theirs, they kept trying to see if it would open! Goodness knows where along the corridor their parents were! I almost rang reception to complain, but I think someone else did, as a manager started hovering till they settled down.

Room Tip: Don't get a room anywhere near the ice machine!!

I often stay at the Jury's in Exeter and find the staff very helpful. The rooms are small compared to other hotels but always clean and tidy. Night manager Tim is a stand out guy and nothing is too much for him.
The only thing missing in my opinion is a fitness centre but that goes for every Jury's hotel, so not a criticism.

City centre, good value on deal (£67 for a twin). No parking but pay car parks nearby, no fridge in room, a room very Spartan and small, otherwise as you would expect from this corporate chain, service fast and efficient.

I secured an excellent value rate of £60.00 a night to stay here on an overnight visit to Exeter at the end of August 2013. The hotel is reasonably well located, only a short walk into the centre of Exeter and with parking just across the road (£7.00 for 24 hours not bad value at all). Check in was easy; the room was comfortable. My partner and I both agreed the pillows were about the best we had slept on for as long as we could remember. The room was quiet and fairly spacious. All-in-all, this hotel is nothing special but for a mid-range, great value option you cannot go far wrong. On a pleasant day in Exeter head for tea/coffee and cake outside one of the cafes overlooking the cathedral - lovely spot!
