“Town location”

Property in town location, not the photo in the advert, the view from the lounge window is a brick wall of the house next door,or of a main road. The bedroom although very well appointed is in a basement down a steep narrow staircase. The house was clean and well equipped, the sofa comfortable.
We found the central heating difficult to control but a very comfy place to stay.

Many thanks for taking time to post feedback. Much appreciated. In the interests of balance, thought it might be helpful for other readers to mention the fact that the advert for this property (and the annotations of photos) do mention that the lead photo is of “Bayard's Cove which is 45 seconds from the property”. Regarding heating: the property has full gas central heating as well as a powerful, flame effect gas fire in the lounge. The central heating is controlled by a wall mounted thermostat. If guests have questions or any issues during their stay, the owner is always available to answer phone calls (or to attend the property as soon as practically possible). On this occasion, there were no reports of any problems from these guests during their stay. Regarding the bedroom, it is on a lower floor and benefits from an extremely large window on one wall as well as light wells on the other wall. The living area / kitchen has a large window which faces the street (Newcomen Road. A fairly quiet street, not a main road). Unlike most properties in that part of the street, the owners have installed a second I.E. rear window (for light / ventilation). This is very much a positive feature to the room. The fact it faces the rear wall of a nearby property is something which has caused no hardship for guests (as it is a secondary window with generous and heavy curtains for those who don’t wish to benefit from it). The property dates back to 1880's. It is a Dartmouth town house conversion and in common with most properties of this type, stairs are narrow by today's standards - albeit perfectly usable – and as can be seen from other reviews, the stairs have presented no problems for other guests. Many thanks for taking time to read this.

“Fabulous accommodation”
Reviewed July 1, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

Lower Heywood was all that the description said about it and more.
It was really spacious which you don't always get when it is for two people.
Everything you needed was there. The basement bedroom had a touch of luxury about it.
The property is in a really good position for walking to the many pubs shops and stunning walk by the river.

“Cosy retreat”
Reviewed April 6, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

A very cosy stay in a well equipped apartment. Luxury rolled top bath and shower. State of the art heating system made for comfort in Our stay in March. Street parking is a problem but a car parking permit can be obtained nearby. Only a minute walk to Bayard's cove. There a no views of the River from the apartment. Dartmouth is a wonderful holiday destination and would be happy to stay at this holiday property again.

“Modern, Comfortable, Clean and Perfectly Located Apartment”
Reviewed July 3, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We had a lovely stay at Lower Heywood. Our week's holiday was booked very last minute and both the Manager and Owner were extremely efficient in dealing with our booking. The apartment was beautifully furnished, extremely clean and perfectly located - just a stone's throw from the river, shops and restaurants. The bath and shower were amazing, the kitchen well equipped and a very comfortable bed. The parking permit was a godsend as parking is limited in Dartmouth. We fell in love with Dartmouth. It is a beautiful part of Devon and Blackpool Sands which is about a 5 minutes' drive away were beautiful. All in all, a fantastic holiday and would have no hesitation in staying again.

We enjoyed a fabulous week in this beautiful holiday home. The accommodation is outstanding. It was spotlessly clean and is exceptionally well equipped. Everything that a visitor could possibly need was in the house. It was all even better than the photographs - and we did not think that was possible! We stayed during a rare heatwave but the bedroom was wonderfully cool. Being right on the road we expected noise at night but in actual fact it was very peaceful, except of course for the dawn chorus from the seagulls!! The property is ideally situated and in the most picturesque part of the town.

Communication from the owner before and after our stay was excellent.

Dartmouth is a stunning town. We explored the beautiful area completely on foot and ferry. We explored the coastal path, but be warned, it is either steep up or steep down, rarely in between! We did not use our car at all during the week but made use of a nearby car park. The pre paid car park voucher is very advisable.

The terrain is extremely hilly, but that suited us.

There is a Co-op very close which opens 7am-10pm and a nearby M&S which opens 8am-8pm, so provisions are easily obtained.

There are plenty of very good restaurants and pubs nearby and we enjoyed a healthy breakfast every morning at Alf Fresco which opens at 7am daily.

All in all we enjoyed our best holiday EVER here!

“Dream location, superb accommodation”
Reviewed June 8, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Fabulous five-star accommodation. If anything property exceeds expectations - even better than the impressive photos online. Fabulous specification including state-of-the-art digital heating system, multimedia streaming etc. Shower and bath to die for - the latter, a really luxurious touch in the bedroom. Lower Hayward is ideally situated less than a minute’s walk from the optimal harbour view in all of Dartmouth and a few steps from one of the best fish and chip shops in the country. The owners and property managers are meticulous and extremely professional. Dartmouth has so much to offer. Very highly recommended.
