With all the restaurants to choose from in Dartmouth we found it hard to make a choice but were glad we picked this one.
I had the haddock fillet which was cooked to perfection. It was accompanied by a really good (reasonably priced) Sauvignon blanc.
My partner being vegetarian had the polish stew (bigos) which was really tasty.
The decor was the right balance of stylish and relaxed creating a cosy but cosmopolitan atmosphere

My husband and I had dinner at the Anzac Street Bistro last Thursday evening (11th July 2013) and were very very impressed. The menu was varied and interesting and when the food came we weren't disappointed. The food was nicely cooked and very well presented - full of delicious flavours. The service all evening was excellent; attentive without being over bearing. It is obvious the couple who run this restaurant are passionate about their business, are working very hard to make it a success and care very much about their customers. This was our last night in Dartmouth otherwise we would have returned for a second meal. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to others.

Dartmouth was packed on the Saturday evening we tried to find somewhere to eat, and the restaurant was full, but they were clearly reluctant to turn anyone away, so we returned a little later to be invited back in a quarter of an hour as two people were just leaving.

It was well worth the wait. A full restaurant with a great atmosphere and probably very popular locally. It used to be excellent but quite different under previous ownership so the present owners have a hard act to follow, and they have done well to keep a full house with a totally different menu.

They offer an excellent vegetarian menu as well as meat choices and have even concocted a vegetarian Bigos, a seemingly impossible invention. Both veg and meat dishes were original, interesting and "different" in that it is rare to find food with a Polish twist, which makes an enjoyable change.

Above all the service was delightful, Aga seems to work incredibly hard, yet has a kind word for everyone; a perfect hostess. We will definitely be back, and might even sample their mini B&B.

We stayed in Dartmouth for 3 weeks and discovered the Anzac Bistro too late. We only managed 2 lunches in the time we had left but will not hesitate to go there again on our return. NIce ambiance, friendly staff and the best beer in town. If you happen to like serious ale, the draught Leffe is a refreshing change for any restaurant. The lunch menu, albeit small was really good and having seen the food other clients were eating, I'd say it all had to be great. I chose the Goulash (both times) as that is a favourite of mine. It was better than anything I had tasted, even in Prague and other Eastern Bloc cities. We'll go there again for an evening meal next time and having seen the menu it ought to be soon.

We visited this Bistro for many, many years and it was always one of our favourites. Sadly it has changed hands, and the range and quality of food is not what it was. A big disappointment, we won't be returning.
