Owner description: Take this extraordinary glimpse into the beloved holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, and contains many of the family's collections, including archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical china and books. Outside you can explore the large and romantic woodland garden, with a restored vinery, wild edges and rare plantings, which drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary.

“Great Day Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

We had a guided tour of the gardens with one of the staff - and he took such care to describe things in a very interesting way - he really seemed to pass on his enthusiasm. The views along the river from down at the bottom of the garden are idyllic. If you're luck you might see seals and cormorants - as we did. Take your binoculars!!

Be sure to book your car in to the car park in advance, or go by public transport. See the property's website, or National Trust Handbook.

So glad to see that you had such a great garden tour - our garden team are treasures! We have some special garden tours on Saturdays in the Spring which you might like; where you can find out all about the history of the camellia gardens. Hope to see you again - we are open now until November!

We totally enjoyed the chance to see Agatha Chrisitie's house. The docents at the house were wonderful, friendly and full of information which they happily shared.

“A must for lovers of the books and plays”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

We visited over a year ago and just realised I had not reviewed. Ours was unusual as it was a private visit as part of a staff outing from another attraction. We were made very welcome and small groups taken on a tour. Very well set out - it appears Agatha was a real squirrel - hording vast amounts of items. As someone who acts in an Agatha play, and my wife who does props for the same production it was fascinating. What was lacking for us due to when we went and heavy rain was that we didn't get to the gardens so will will go back in the spring.

Thank you for your lovely review - glad that Greenway struck such a chord with you. We are opening from 16 Feb this year - hope you can visit in the Spring as you hoped; that is when the garden is at its most glorious.

“Everything Agatha”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

Greenway was Agatha Christies home in Devon. Perched high above the river Dart with lovely views its easy to see why Agatha was drawn to this part of Devon. There is a feeling of peace and contentment. Everything in the house speaks of a different age and though so long ago, you can feel the presence of this most prolific author. Visit the shop and buy Agatha's books and DVDs. Take time for tea in the stables or better still, pre-book tea in the house itself. It's important to pre-book the parking too. It's not possible to just turn up. Booking is simple either online or phone up. Then visit and enjoy.
