We ate outside on the patio area so only had a view of the actual hotel from the outside, which really could do with a lick of paint to spruce it up a bit .

We chose the £16.98 three course meal,we chose the Chilled melon for started, roast beef and then a Turkish delight ice cream. The starter was nice and refreshing and the roast beef was good, potatoes plentiful and Yorkshire pudding crispy however the Broccoli was cold, it also came with what we thought was a swede and carrot mash. It would have been nice to have some peas and a little more gravy. Desert was nice.

Waitress was pleasant and polite.

Although the meal was nice I do think it was a little expensive for what it was, and they don't sell wine by the glass which is slightly annoying.

If there had been a "Nice" overall rating button I would have pressed that

Had a lovely one night stay here. Staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were a little dated but this didnt detract from a pleasant stay.
Breakfast was excellent with so much to choose from. Swimming pools were great esp the outdoor pool with sun terrace - wonderful!!
Quiet location but not by the sea so the photos shown can be a little misleading.

This was our first visit and we were impressed by the location, staff, restaurant and the informal but friendly way this hotel was run by its owners who have managed it for some 30 years. We stayed for four nights and enjoyed many good meals in the restaurant, breakfast was excellent and dinner comparable to hotels with much higher star ratings. The rooms were adequate, immaculately serviced daily and had everything you needed, including tea & coffee making facilities and room service should you require it.
Outside were well appointed patios and an outside pool when weather permitted a great place to relax.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms have the best views.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay here, we have visited several times, but not for about 17 years when our children were young. It is still a great place and still owned by the same family, with their daughters now working there. The best thing is it is so friendly and very very relaxing. The food is still fantastic and we will definitely not leave it another 17 years before returning.

We stayed here for one night at the end of a week in the area. The weather had been so wonderful in Deveon we wanted to stay for one more night at the end of our holiday at Hillfield Cottages.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. My father-in-law has some mobility problems (which I had failed to mention when booking) and on arrival, without any prompting quickly changed his room. As previous reviewers have said the hotel might not be the most modern and luxurious but the staff more than made up for this. Service was excellent. Pool was warm and most welcome during this hot weekend with a lovely sea view from the terrace.

We have visited many times over many years and are most happy to return. The staff are always very friendly and helpful have a good knowledge of the area. The locally-sourced food is delicious and generous, and served either outside on terraces overlooking the sea, or in the light and attractive dining room. We especially enjoy the locally caught sea food. The rooms are spotless and well appointed. It's great to have the choice of two heated swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), a sauna and a Jacuzzi. Super location - close to Dartmouth and Slapton Sands; the beautiful South Devon coastal path runs through Stoke Fleming too.

Not the most luxurious hotel in Dartmouth but the staff and the food more than compensated for its shortcomings. Prices were on a par with other smaller hotels and guest houses in the area . Plus the added bonus of an outdoor and indoor pool + Jacuzzi and games room for those damp days you sometimes get in Devon. A small bar but the prices were competitive with the local pub.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view you have to pay a bit more. Depends how much time you want to spend looking o...
