We really miss the old Jan & Freddie's brasserie, but the Phoenix that has risen from the ashes is wonderful - excellent, welcoming staff, who were very knowledgeable on the food they were serving - warm comfortable atmosphere, with a homely buzz of conversation.

All 6 of us finished everything on our plates - 5 of us had fish in various forms and it was all delicious, the sweet potato fries were a fabulous find. My husband had the fillet steak, it was cooked exactly as requested and was at least £3 cheaper than others we have seen in Dartmouth. My daughter had the lemon pot with ginger biscuit crumbs on top for dessert, it was so smooth and delicious the glass was wiped clean.

The bill came to a very reasonable £25 a head and that was 3 courses for some of us and wine! Could easily have been very much dearer in other restaurants we have been to this week and only been half as good.

Thumbs up for this one - it's a must try - will definitely be booking again next time we are visiting.

We were looking for a restaurant in Dartmouth during the regatta week. As it was Sunday, it was hard to find a good restaurant which was open that day. After walking around in circles we bumped into this little restaurant. It was not open yet (it opens at 6.30 pm) but we called them and we were able to book a table.
Service was very friendly and professional. The waitress with the glasses (sorry, I don't know her name) knew all the day specials by heart and made us feel very welcome. Fresh warm crispy bread and butter were served. Enough things to choose from on the menu and very nice day specials too.
We had the lamb cutlets with sweet potato fries, dauphinoise potatoes and mixed cooked vegetables. All really good! A very nice cappuccino to end our evening and the total bill came to £44 for the 2 of us (together with 1 starter and 2 glasses of red wine).

Don't hesitate to go here if you are in Dartmouth!

We ate here twice during our recent stay in Dartmouth. The service is good, the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable (especially for Dartmouth!). The fact that we returned shows how impressed we were!

Myself and my mother went for dinner here this evening, it was absolutely beautiful! The fillet steak was cooked perfectly and the dauphinoise potatoes were gorgeous, as were the sweet potato fries and the roasted vegetables and cabbage. I went for the amaretto cheesecake and mum had the lemon pots with ginger biscuit, both were amazing!! The only fault from the evening was the falseness of the waitress, whilst she was very lovely and attentive, she was a little too false for it to be a comfortable chat! Overall a gorgeous meal and lovely evening! Would definitely recommend!!

We chanced upon this bistro just days after it opened and what a recipe for success they have. Wonderful atmosphere, good food, excellent wine list to suit all pockets and, the crowning glory, the waitress. She was witty, attentive and very helpful, even laughed at my jokes!!!
It has taken me two months to write this as I "lost" the receipt with the name on.
