We have been to the Sails restaurant twice now and were very surprised that the second experience was actually better than the first ‘excellent’ visit. I cannot say enough about how good the food was, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Would have walked straight past if I hadn't been taken there. Had a lovely evening (get the window seat if possible) Lovely resturant. Food and service was excellent. Staff were all happy and good fun too!

Very friendly staff, lovely fresh, locally sourced food, fantastic views across the River Dart to Kingswear. No seating outside, restaurant on first floor. Suitable for intimate or groups, with fabulous food. Six of us went on the Saturday night, and booked again for the Wednesday as we enjoyed it so much. Well worth a visit. Not too expensive, unlike lots of restaurants in Dartmouth.

Decided to try this on the first night of our holiday (a Saturday), and were able to book a table for 5 at fairly short notice. Friendly and pleasant host, nice surroundings and the most superb view across to Kingswear.
Excellent food - some fairly 'usual' items and some more interesting and adventurous, with a good range of specials. I had crayfish linguine with cream and lobster sauce - delicious and I could have licked the bowl clean after (but was told that was poor form in a posh restaurant!!!). They also did half portions for children - my daughter Emily loved her bowl of spaghetti carbonara.
Dessert was eton mess with mini marshmallows instead of meringue - a bit odd to be honest but not unpleasant. A very nice evening so we booked to go back later in the week.
Our second visit saw the restaurant busier, with a consequently much slower service - we booked our table for 7.15 but didn't get served our main courses until nearly 9. Food was still very good (I had the linguine again as it was so delicious) and the atmosphere and view is great, but a bit slow this time. Would happily go back - very tasty and happy to accommodate kids.

On a dank July evening we scoured Dartmouth for a quality restaurant with a view to meet the strict specification we were given. Sails came up trumps: the food was brilliant and the views across the Kingswear were also wonderful. The Patron was very helpful and was keen to accommodate our wishes and help guide us through the interesting & varied menu. Food was all excellent and the house wines reasonable.
Set above the Dartmouth yacht club it probably is considered to be a part of it, but it is not so go there and make sure it stays wonderful!
