Owner description: Clovelly, North Devon. World famous for our cobbled, traffic-free street, donkeys, sledges and historic harbour. The stunning views, peaceful tranquility and cobbled, traffic-free, high street of this world famous fishing village, built into a cleft in a 400' high cliff, tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port. It is famous for its donkeys, which traditionally carry goods up the hill; sledges bring things down. There are links with Charles Kingsley, Turner, Dickens and the Spanish Armada.

we went to clovelly as a trip on our holiday and its beautiful as I remembered as a child but it is a bit pricey especially the land rover trip back up from the harbour family of 4 £10 and that's without the entry price but on a lovelly day it is beautiful

We were lucky enough to have timed our visit here with the Maritime Festival and we had such a good day.

The walk down is very steep and cobbled so make sure you wear appropriate footwear. Stunning views and scenery so a camera is a must!

I would suggest a visitors guide for £1 as you would really know what you are looking at.

The maritime festival was brilliant, live music, puppet shows, lots of local stalls and a brilliant Samba band. Not forgetting the arts and crafts stall where my children spent ages making things. There was an old sailing boat and also snorkelling trials and little boats to try. Amazing atmosphere and all in aid of a good cause, the North Devon Hospice.

Dogs on leads are welcome.

I am not sure how much my children would have enjoyed it had the festival not been on, but they did play for ages in the beach and in the sea. We got the Landrover back up as it was really hot and there was no chance of the kids making it back up!

Well worth a look.

It's amazing. You come from clovelly wanting to live there. A must visit for everyone. Everybody is really friendly and there is just a really warm and safe atmosphere.

Clovelly is a lovely village near Bideford. My family and I go either once or twice a year because it is very welcoming. It is also where Charles Kingsley lived! The downside is the prices with £6.50 per person! They could reduce it a bit. They show a lovely video in the visitor centre and overall worth a visit!

We parked up in our Motorhome - plenty of room and made our way to the entrance. Had a wonderful walk all the way down to the little harbour. Well worth a visit and worth the price if you haven't been before. Tough to walk back up, but if you are fit, healthy and have the time it's a beautiful walk back. I believe you can pay for a lift back up via a 4 x 4 if you are struggling. Please check this out yourself before entering though.
