Owner description: Located below Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur, this cave is believed to be where Merlin lived. The caves are accessible from a footpath, but fill with water at high tide.

I have mentioned my thoughts on Merlin's cave on my review of Tintagel castle, I suppose, its great for the kids to imagine that the 2nd most famous wizard (Harry Potter being number 1) lived here, but at the end of the day there is nowt to see but walls and rocks.

Sorry to sound like Mr Grumpy, but it did nothing for me, however, as I say, by the sound of it, the youngsters seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is great.

Unmarked, and mysterious, not accessible at any but the lowest tides, this is a beautiful cave to see. Seriously doubt, if he was real that Merlin would live there, even if he was a hermit, more so if he was as powerful as is written. If he were to frequent a cave at Tintagel it could have been any one of the three large caves or all of them.

Can walk into it a low tide, situated on a small beach below the castle, worthwhile seeing though it you are there!

Seeing the ocean coming in from the other side of the cave is just lovely, and it felt special visiting with children who were imagining what rocks Merlin used for his table to make his spells on and so on. Magical :-)

Make the effort and go to the cave if you visit Tintagel Castle! And on a good day you can even swim in the small bay!
