Owner description: Located below Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur, this cave is believed to be where Merlin lived. The caves are accessible from a footpath, but fill with water at high tide.

“Get the tide right and it's a great beach to spend the day on”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

Not the most obvious place for a beach day, but when the tide is out, the water is almost like a lagoon as it's very sheltered. You can only access the cave at low tide but it's worth timing your visit so you can reach it. It goes right through the Island and out the other side.

“even more spectacular than Tintagel Castle”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

It is a free visit, so go for it. The cave goes from one side of the island to the other, really nice.
The place was very crowded during the Easter hollidays

“Its a cave”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Part of the Tintagel castle site more than a stand alone site. Can be a tad slippy on the rocks in the cave and only accesible when low tide.

Eerily peaceful, atmospheric and just beautiful to sit and spend a few quiet moments in.
