Owner description: This brooding 13th-century castle sits on the rugged and spectacular Atlantic coast in Cornwall, which recalls the myth and mystery associated with King Arthur and Merlin the magician. New exhibition explores the stories linking Tintagel to King Arthur which includes a 3D model of the site illustrating how it has changed over the centuries. Dog friendly and child friendly, this is a great day out for all the family.

The climb up the steps to the castle is not for the faint hearted but you are rewarded with fantastic views of the rugged Cornish coastline. Definitely recommended.

A very good hike up to a few ruins with stunning views. Recommend going out to the old hotel and acess the coastal path from the right side of the building. Walk down to the path, turn left, then you will approach the castle from the north along the coast. You will have great views of the ruins, cave, and coast. You can then pay to enter the "castle" from further down. We took a wrong turn and did this by mistake but it was actually brilliant!

Tintagel is this ancient ruin of dark stones and mystery -- exceeding Stonehenge in the latter department. It's associated with King Arthur but was built 400 years after he was supposed to have lived. BUT they found a piece of Mediterranean pottery in the ruins that dates from Arthur's time (around 900 AD). So the mystery goes on. But this place has two things -- a feeling of being with/near the ancients AND an amazing view. It's touristy, but still worth seeing. We chose to walk down and take the Land Rover service back up to the top. We didn't have enough time and would recommend two or three hours to those interested.

This is a must for all visitors to Cornwall. Great views, but be prepared to climb a lot of steps. Don´t forget Merlins Cave, too as it is worth the extra steps.

Had a great day out, the staff were great & answered all our questions. The steps are not for the faint hearted but the views at the top are stunning.
