Owner description: This brooding 13th-century castle sits on the rugged and spectacular Atlantic coast in Cornwall, which recalls the myth and mystery associated with King Arthur and Merlin the magician. New exhibition explores the stories linking Tintagel to King Arthur which includes a 3D model of the site illustrating how it has changed over the centuries. Dog friendly and child friendly, this is a great day out for all the family.

There is a lot of climbing steep steps which you have to be prepared for, but that said you are treated to some spectacular views. We spent several hours exploring the ruins and generally taking in the beautiful scenery. Well worth a visit if you are fit and able.

We visited in September and didn't pay this time to go on to the castle - instead we headed along the coast path and took in the gorgeous view opposite where the castle lies. Its just stunning! Even if you just walked up there and took a seat for a while and watched the sea and enjoyed the peace that would be lovely. We decided to walk along the coast path not knowing what we would find. We ended up coming across some beautiful scenery - really very stunning. Particularly as we got closer to Trebartwith - we we didn't know was there until we stumbled on it! Lovely setting for a beach and a small village.
Would recommend visiting the castle as we did before but also the further walks - all really lovely - a real view of Cornwall in all its rugged beauty.

We spent a few hours here on 29th September and had an interesting afternoon. Our party consisted of four adults and six children under ten and all found it good. All the very steep steps were quite a challenge for the little ones though and hands certainly had to be held as there are plenty of very sizeable drops. All in all a good afternoon for realistic money

This is a really nice day out in a stunning location. It is a nice walk down to the castle and to the beach where Merlin’s Cave is and there is a waterfall down to the beach. There are two steep climbs up to the top on each side but it is well worth the climb. We went with my family and my Nan and Grandad were fine with the climb. At the top there is lots to explore and the view across the coast is absolutely stunning. It is worth it just for the view. There is a cafe and a little shop and the price is very reasonable. If you’re not up to climbing back up the path to the village there is a land rover service which charges a couple of quid to get back up. Thoroughly enjoyed Tintagel Castle and will definitely be going back next time we are holidaying in Cornwall.

the burning question is was this King Arthur's castle? Hmm, still to be discussed a lot. Regardless of that, this is a most atmospheric and interesting ruin, on the scenic rugged beauty of the cliffs. access is an issue if you have buggies or wheelchairs, phone ahead to ask. Wear walking shoes as it is a rocky path around the site. exceptional stuff for the keen photographers out there
