We have just returned from a 7 night stay in St Mawes. We found the Victory Inn on our second night and ate there for the rest of our stay. We tried a lot of fish dishes which are absolutely delicious and also the most amazing lambs liver with horseradish mash. Just ask for salad or veg to balance the dish. The beer is good and the staff very welcoming and good humoured! You need to book to be sure of a table, especially in the busy holiday period and don't get put off by the sometimes chaotic ambience. We both felt the experience at the Victory Inn made our holiday, excellent value for money and a great contrast to our hotel which although absolutely idyllically located and decorated, lacked soul and a happy atmosphere.

“Enjoyable but had run out of things on a Thursday night and found it hard to cater for a no butter/cream diet”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

An enjoyable evening. With a no cream/ butter diet I looked at the menu and thought there was a lot to chose from, unfortunately not. Very limited choice but I did not tell them in advance so I could not complain.
Lovely friendly staff and nice ambience.

“If busy be prepared for a wait”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

As usual the food was of excellent quality, but unfortunately we had to wait because of friends were allowed to jump our order. As long as you are aware of these things the food is still worth having.

“Good but not outstanding”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

Food was good, but not wonderful, the service friendly but a bit haphazard. The menu is fairly limited, but that is not a problem as there were plenty of specials to choose from.
I think it would benefit from some new chairs as the ones I tried were a bit wonky.
