“Looks nicer than it is”

This is a fairly picturesque pub and has a reasonable range of Cornish beers. As with both pubs in this rather remote village it has a captive audience and can get crowded. Don't even think of coming here if you just want a drink during their meal times.

“Fantastic food and a great atmosphere! ”
Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

I am a regular visitor to St Mawes, and this lovely little pub never fails to impress me.

My most recent visit over Easter was my first experience of the restaurant upstairs, the service was fantastic and the food good value, and delicious.

I thoroughly recommend the seafood duo risotto and I am very much looking forward to our next visit!

“Allergy heaven”
Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

Went for a family meal at lunchtime with my daughter who is allergic to egg and dairy. The chef went out of his way to make everything great. He even came up with new combinations of dishes. As it happens the battered fish and chips are dairy free and she declared them superb. I had a medley of fish and a really nice risotto. Good draft beer, fair prices, lovely staff.

“Great atmosphere, average food”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Lovely old building on tucked away street. Food was fine but could be so much better. Ingredients, especially meat and fish, very good, but no imagination - chips and peas with all.
