“Abusive Manager”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We were sat at an outside table finishing our starters, when a man stepped out of the entrance on to a small balcony right beside where we were sitting and immediately lit up a cigarette. This was within two feet of the open French windows, being the direct entrance to the indoor dining area.
We politely asked him if he would stop smoking or move away as we did not want cigarette smoke over our food. He was immediately confrontational and flatly refused. Assuming he was a customer we said we would ask a member of staff to intervene. He was not concerned about this and informed us that he was the owner, in a manner which implied he would do what he wanted.
The member of staff we spoke to informed us that there was nothing she could do as he was her manager.
Although he did eventually move a little further along the balcony, his manner remained confrontational and we felt we had no alternative but to leave, even though we had not received our main course. We had paid for the whole meal at the point of ordering (£70+). We asked him if he would give us a refund, he was dismissive and refused.

We were astonished at his rudeness and arrogance, we find it difficult to believe he is employed in a customer service industry, let alone as a manager.

In addition the smoke from his cigarette was clearly drifting through the French windows, directly into the indoor dining area, since he was only two feet away from the doorway.

Our complaint about the restaurant is restricted totally to this person, the food and staff were acceptable, but the attitude of the manager ruined our experience. We would strongly advise against visiting an establishment whose manager clearly has no skills in customer service.

“Good pub grub”
Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

We ate here twice whilst on holiday in the area. A fairly standard pub menu, nothing out of the ordinary but all good food nonetheless.

On both visits my husband and I chose beer battered cod, mushy peas and homecut chips. The fish was fresh and a large portion and you can't beat real chips a definite winner. My son had chicken goujons, again on both visits which he really enjoyed. The onion rings were a let down, my husband was sure he'd seen some homemade ones served but ours were straight from the freezer.

Great beer, plenty of choice, lots of wasps outside which I know can't be helped at certain times o the year, but clearing plates and glasses promptly would have helped.

“Good Food and seems good value”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

OK the food was good and seemed good value. The fish and chips were large ! However I had to reject 6 (SIX) wine glasses as they were not cleaned adequately. The bar staff did apologised, ans eventually I was given a glass to my satisfaction

“Fantastic Location”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Just set back from the sea, The outside has sea views, however as it was very hot and cooler inside for the dog, we had a table inside, yes its dog friendly, good variety on the menu, the ham salad was presented well, and some nice thick real ham, friendly locals ands staff, did not have to wait long to be served the food, tables are nicely spaced inside and its very clean, relaxed atmosphere, we enjoyed eating here, less manic than some we have been to.
