“Fabulous is so many respects!”
Reviewed February 20, 2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed at the Crows Nest for a week in February. I am pleased to say the apartment was exceptional in every way. We were welcomed with a vase of flowers, a packet of Cornish biscuits and a welcome card.
This modern 3 story apartment is a comparatively new build when compared to the other houses in Commercial Road. The views are just fabulous but what surprised us was just how near you are to the Harbour. You could hit a tennis ball from the lounge and it would reach the harbour below.
The double aspect apartment lounge catches the sun and would you believe that in February the sun shone so brightly into the lounge you needed sun glasses indoors! It was a joy to sit with the French doors open and see the vista east and west and watch the sea birds and boats.
We found the bed to our liking. It was extremely comfortable. It had fresh quality linen and there was sufficient storage space.
As there was only two of us we had the luxury of allocating ourselves a bathroom each. This is a luxury for us as we usually share a bathroom. There was plenty of hot water, though on occasions the radiators made a noise reminiscent of a spitting roast dinner being cooked on a heat too high. This rather strange noise blended in with the sea gulls and jackdaw chorus which we rather liked.
Finding Commercial Road was easy – finding the apartment block was less easy because there was no signage that we could see. However it is the only 3 story complex in Commercial Road which is a very short road and it can be identified with its modern iron railing on its terracing.
We enjoyed St Mawes and we were able to find some lovely walks despite the very saturated paths due to the persistent rain the previous month. In the winter months only a few restaurants/café stay open but both pubs do. Our impression was that some of the restaurants were a little bit over priced. There is however a good range here. This includes bistro type and high end restaurants. The castle is closed week days in the winter but you can still enjoy a close view of it.
Unusual for us on a holiday; we enjoyed cooking our own meals in the apartment. This was because it was so well equipped, that we had fabulous views from the dining table and literally less than 100 metres away you can buy fresh meat from a quality butcher and freshly caught fish from the fish from the fishmonger of the harbour and fresh bread from the bakery. There is a CoOp grocery store also within 100 metres of the apartment. The nearest ATM is about 150 metres from the apartment.
The one rainy day we had we took the car into Truro and visited its lovely museum and we went onto see a film at the cinema there. You are near enough to visit some of Cornwall’s outstanding gardens including the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The lovely harbour town of Mevagissey is in easy reach.
There is also the option to take a ferry to Falmouth from the harbour.
Car parking was not a problem in the winter – there are no restrictions along the most of the sea front October to April but in the summer finding a parking space nearby might be a challenge.
Lastly I left a couple of items behind and the owner was kind enough to post these to me. Sigmund Frued is reported to have said that people only leave things behind because they want to return to that place again. I think he was probably right. I would love to stay here again.

“The comfort of the apartment more than made up for the soggy weather.”
Reviewed February 19, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

From the initial enquiry to the end of the holiday we felt to have been so well looked after by Denise. The apartment is beautifully furnished and so much thought has gone into providing everything that a guest might need. One of the advantages of a winter break was easy (and free) parking. The Victoria Inn provided great food and a wonderful atmosphere. All in all - a great week.
