when we arrived at the old vicarage we were welcomed with open arms and every effort was made to get us settled, even though we were early and our room was not yet ready.
when we got to our room we were greeted by a clean and beautifully kept area that was comfortable and a joy to stay in.we were informed of local transport and activities and provided with a map of the area, and made aware that the grounds were at our disposal should we wish to use the benches and tables dotted around.breakfast was a real treat, and we were provided with fresh fruit, coffee, juice and the option to change the cooked menu to tailor our tastes if the one provided wasn't to our liking.all this was offered with a smile, and staff seemed genuinely happy to chat and interact with us,which I feel makes the big difference when recommending a place,as we could tell the people care.excellent *********

Room Tip: we only stayed in one room so I would recommend that one.room 4.

My friend and I stayed at this lovely place recently. It was nestled in it's own grounds and was a real gem. I don't usually sleep well when I go away from home, but I slept like a log here on the comfortable bed I had. We were welcomed on arrival and shown around. There was plenty of information available to help us with transport, entertainment and generally getting around St. Ives. The room was spotless and the food and service was excellent. I would tell my friends to come here and I hope I get the chance to come back here again in the future.

Everything about The Old Vicarage is fabulous from the bedrooms , the tv lounge, the honesty bar ,the staff & the breakfasts. We were made to feel very welcome & even though we arrived late in the evening it wasn't a problem. There is a beautiful garden with plenty of seating , also ample car parking.
A very short stroll through a footpath opposite the hotel brings you to the rugby club & from there a local bus service runs every 10 mins into the town & also does the return trip as frequently.
There is no doubt if we are visiting St Ives again we will always contact The Old Vicarage first to see if they have any vacancies & we will have no hesitation in recommending to our friends.

Our stay at The Old Vicarage was perfect! We really enjoyed the warm hospitality of Dianne and her family, and The Old Vicarage was exactly what we expected from our holiday in England. We not only enjoyed the atmosphere of the house and the rooms but also the lovely garden where we spent quite some time in the shade, hiding from the rather hot sun! From time to time, the two lovely cats said hello!
Also the breakfast was perfect, we very much appreciated the smoked haddock and of course the home made fish cakes! Everybody at the Vicarage made us feel most welcome, many thanks for 3 days of relaxing St. Ives.

The service and staff we experienced was outstanding.
The room spotless and all the requirements for an enjoyable bath and shower, tea and coffee etc.
The location was perfect with a beautiful garden, where we sat in the evening and experienced clear sky and stars, also enjoyed a good glass of wine from the bar.
The breakfast in the morning was delicious, definitely recommended.
Plenty of space for parking, as in St Ives can be very difficult.
Thank you Dianne and Martin for making us feel so welcome and your advice of where to go to eat, it was perfect.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

We loved our stay at the Old Vicarage, it is a beautiful old building with lots of character. The rooms are spacious, light and airy. The breakfasts are scrummy! Especially Diane's homemade fish cakes, delicious! We were made to feel very welcome and the staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
We love visiting St. Ives, there is plenty to do, places to see and lots of lovely restaurants to choose from, food is a big part of our holidays!
We will be returning very soon!

I have just returned from a week at The Old Vicarage with two friends. I cannot rate it highly enough. Warm welcome, beautifully furnished bedrooms, spotlessly clean and amazing breakfasts. St. Ives is a difficult place to park a car so we were able to leave the cars at the hotel and either walk down to the town or take a very reasonable and friendly taxi ride.

We do hope to return some time. Thank you to Dianne and Martin and the housekeeping staff for making our stay so perfect.
