“Great place in St. Ives”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights while walking the SW Coast Path, in order to have a rest day - visit the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Galleries, walk the stretch of the Path around the 'Island' and generally get a flavour of St. Ives.
We asked for one of the cheaper rooms, (who needs a sea view when you're walking beside it all day!) and were given one which was compact, clean and comfortable. We thought the tray under the bed for boots was a really good and practical idea. As it was, we had had great weather, (until the day we left St. Ives and did the 'severe' leg to Pendeen Watch in mist and cloud!).
The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. The owners were ever affable and friendly. We would happily return to St Ives and Tregony.

we had a short break without kids in July. Came across Tregony and we are glad we did. Close to town, clean, friendly all in all just great. You must try the smoked haddock for breaky. Thanks to Loraine and Shayne for making our break simply great.

I stayed here in June 2011 and as this was my first visit to St Ives I wanted to stay somewhere comfortable, close to all the sights, the beaches and great places to eat and I have to say Tregony fitted the bill perfectly! To top it all off my room (Room 5) had the most stunning views of Perthmeor Beach and The Island that I just didn't want to shut my curtains in the evening.

Breakfast was good quality with a choice of hot food (full english, toast, haddock and scrambled egg etc.) and a selection of cereals, yoghurt and fruit.

Overall I would definitely choose to stay here again and I'd like to thank the wonderful hosts of the Tregony for their warm welcome and useful tips for my stay!

Room Tip: Room 5 - stunning sea views

Had a great 3 night stay at the Tregony. Shane, Lorraine and Shanes dad were the perfect hosts. Very friendly and accomodating. For us it was the perfect location, overlooking Porthmeor beach and just above the Tate, but you'll have to climb a hill to get there. Car park nearby, but I would advise you to leave your car at home, very narrow streets and lots of jams. St Ives is best reached by train, lovely journey, great views. Good bus service (but v. limited out of season!) I recommend the coastal walk to Zennor, but you'll need to be reasonably fit (it almost killed me, but the pub was good at the end!). We got a taxi back... no bus from Zennor on Sundays out of season!

Room Tip: Room 3 has lots of space and a great sea view.

Our stay with Shane and Lorraine was a pleasure. They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We had rooms overlooking Porthmeor Beach and it was a great joy to sit in the warm watching the weather, of which there was much and varied, across the sea. They were particularly helpful as I was not very well. Also, both my friend and I had their delicious smoked haddock and a (proper) poached egg for breakfast. Also, our stay was very good value. Many thanks to you both.

Don't overlook this place when searching for somewhere to stay in St Ives. Terrific hosts - we loved Shane's tales of his European travels and Lorraine's advice on where to go and what to see in the local area. Make sure you indulge yourselves with Shane's full English breakfast - it'll keep you going all day. Room spotless and very comfortable, great value for money. Thanks to First Great Western's Club 55 for getting us there (first class) at a bargain price! Looking forward to a repeat performance next year.

Can't really add much to all the other reviews except to agree with all the positive comments....friendly, clean, helpful with the parking (and you need help with parking in St Ives!), great breakfast, Shane and Lorraine are great hosts, and if you get a room with a sea view it's pretty spectacular...which was a real plus seeing as it rained most of the time we were there. Luckily St Ives has plenty to do for such a small town, but it's always good to stay in a B&B or a hotel where being there is a part of the holiday, not just a bed for the night.
