What a wonderful site massive pitches, very clean, a lovely little club house and pool area, laundry and 3 shower blocks. The bus service into St Ives was brilliant. We had wonderful weather for the whole week. The shop is great and stocks quite a lot of essentials. The service was great from the welcome to the people in the shop driving my groceries to my pitch as I'd bought quite a lot. Thanks Polmanter for a wonderful stay. Oh try the local pub for some yummy pies lamb and mint and fish pie were gorgeous!

We had a great time at Polmanter. The facilities are very clean and the pub serves great food. Disapointing that scooters are not allowed as the Children's bikes are just as dangerous, and it would be great if the shop opened a little later as it offers everything. The shop is much better than the local co- op. Some of the staff were friendly, but I'm not sure children are everyones cup of tea!

Spent 7 nights here during Whitsun School Holiday so as expected the site was full, mostly with families in a mix of Tents, Motorhomes and Caravans.

Our party consisted of 2 adults 3 children and 1 infant. We were made to feel very welcome by all staff at all times. The communal facilites we're spotless and well appointed.

The site shop was wel stocked and the prices were reasonable, ice block hire was a nice addition.

The campsite pub was excellent having a good choice of local real ales and standard lagers, a decent cask cider wouldn't go amiss though. Entertainment in the pub consevatory was consistently good and well run. Food served in the pub was very good.

Very well looked after Heated Outdoor pool.

The Pitches are all large well drianed and a lot are fully serviced. most are bounded on 3 sides by hedges giving privacy and heping as wind breaks. The site is windy and additional windbreaks and decent tent pegs are a must.

So why only 4 stars and not 5 - well i'm afraid that's due to night-time noise. There are a lot of children on site of all ages (including my 4 !!!) however despite the playgrounds supposedly closing at 2100 they were still being used by teenagers as gathering areas well into the night, and despite the best efforts of the night staff the problem did not go away.

But on the whole a very good site, excellent for families and a good base for Exploring the West of Cornwall.

Room Tip: Book Early for busy school holiday dates.

Have just returned from our second visit to this site in the last year, Its quite a large site with bar, swimming pool( from May) play area , shop, and plenty of washing facilities. Its just a mile walk down over the cliffs or on a little lane to the town of St Ives. Beautiful surrounding landscape with sea views. We love the hopper bus which takes you to and from the town too. Very clean, well maintained quiet site good for families and older couples. The food in the bar was very nice.

Our children were a bit upset that they couldnt use their scooters although we understand they could be disturbing for other guests.

Very good all round and reasonable too, Would come again

Stayed at Polmanter this year after usually staying at Little Trevarrack Campsite which is just up the road.. We had 7 nights in the high season on a serviced pitch.. it cost £202.00 for 2 of us.. (this may sound expensive but it is about right.)

IMPRESSED is the word I’m looking for..... I have stayed on many campsites allover England but this is one of, if not the best I have stayed on..

we go to Cornwall every year and we will now be booking Polmanter as it ticks a few more boxes than Little Trevarrack.. Here's why:-

we loved the close location to St.ives and the walk down the little country lane into the village.. only took us 15 mins to walk down there and about half hour to walk back.. it is a little steep in places but makes you feel like you have earnt that cake with your tea... haha
it is also within walking distance of the Tesco supermarket, which we walked to a few times for the essentials..
the shop on site is a very nice touch.. especially with the fresh baked bread and pastries everyday.. makes your bacon sarnie taste even better and its nice to know that if you run out of anything you can get it here... Yes you may pay a few pence more.. but oh well...
this is what Little Trevarrack is missing as they do not have campsite shop..

The pitches are a good size and you can take a vitual tour online and pick your pitch before you arrive so you know what you are getting before you get there.. our pitch was one with laurels all round it as it can get quite windy and we like the protection offered by these bushes..
Like alot of the sites.. you pay for the pitch no the size of the tent.. good job as we have got an 8 man tent for the 2 of us.. not a problem here.. our pitch swallowed our tent and car...

Polmanter does not allow groups, so you can guarantee a pleasant stay without the worry of hassle or rowdiness from drunken yobs… All the people we met here were like minded and very friendly.. with the usual greeting of 'Morning Campers' hehehe

if you have been to St.Ives at a peak time then you will know that parking is a nightmare, I was able to leave my car at Polmanter and enjoy the pleasures of St.Ives without the worry of parking as there is a bus service which comes onto the site and takes you into St.Ives for £1.00 each….. the busses are regular as clockwork and meant that I could go out for a meal at night and have a drink without the worry of driving or if I din't fancy the walk back…

Polmanter has a good sized outdoor pool that i hear is heated, however, i cannot vouch for that as I didn't get in it..
it has several play areas for the kids and also a games room.
it has a take away which i thought was a nice touch (Little Trevarrack hasn't unfortunately)
It also has a bar on site which is nice and friendly.. (Little Trevarrack hasn't unfortunately)

If there is anything else you want to know about Polmanter then please ask and I will try my utmost to assist..

If you are planning a trip to St.Ives and you can get into Polmanter then book it you will NOT be disappointed I assure you...

Me and my partner will be back again next year and now we have made the leap of faith from Little Trevarrack to Polmanter we will always stay at Polmanter now... sometimes you always feel that better the devil you know.. we feel that way aswell, however, we are glad that we gave Polmanter a go cos its paid off..

we are not dissing Little Trevarrack in anyway as we have had some lovely holidays there, however Polmanter does pip them at the post... We are just providing a fair review of the competition out there... sorry Little Trevarrack!!

Paddy :-)

Just spent one week at Polmanter Touring Park with my family in our new caravan. What better way to get back in to caravanning than staying at Polmanter which is everything is says on the tin. The pitches are an excellent size and there is a choice of hardstanding or grass, with or without services. The site was quiet, well organised, and exceptionally clean. The staff were really helpful and courteous at all times. The pool was excellent and the stables bar which overlooks the pool served fantastic value for money food. We ate there on the last night and wished we had tried it on the first!

There is an excellent bus services from the camp site to St Ives which is a bonus and saves you having to use your car as parking is a nightmare. The bus also takes dogs for free.
