What a wonderful area to sit down and relax. There are no dislikes - and I got to see a dolphin in the sea.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

When I was a kid my parent brought me to st Ives on holiday and this was the beach they always came to. Sheltered as it is by the Island it is a sun trap, the sand is spotless, the sea emerald green to so so clear it is just a teeny bit of heaven on earth, there is a nice cafe, hire for umbrellas for shade, chairs and wind brakes, it tends to be a bit quieter than the other beaches and all the better for it.

There are NO lifeguards and the beach shelves steeply and the water gets deep fast, keep a close eye on children here.

Stunning, clean beach.Never seen sea so blue and green and clear..When the sun is shining you would really think you were somewhere exotic. Nice mix of young families and couples and young people all enjoying themselves. The sand is gorgeous, soft and clean.St Ives must be one of the best places on the planet !

“Spoit for Choice”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

On previous visits to St Ives we had only paid lip service to this beach given the high standard of Porthmeor, Harbour and Porthminster. An error.

Safe, clean, sheltered and even less aggressive seagulls than other beaches makes this is a gem. Great Café and tends not be quite as busy as other beaches.

Don't make our mistake - give Porthgwidden at least a try.
