“Great family friendly beach”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Ideal beach for us with a 4 year old, has everything you could need, toilets, coffee shop and the sea does not go out too far so you can always keep one eye on your stuff whilst paddling in the sea - so everyone gets to freeze their tootsies!

“Secret beach”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

Spent a good half day here after trying to get away from the hectic main harbour crowd. We walked all the way along, up to the Island and back. This secluded little beach cops some massive crashing waves which were fun to watch as we sat around on the rocks. It was a very windy day when we stayed in St Ives but the walk and the beach made it very enjoyable. Porthgwidden even has it's own cafe, next to some changing sheds and is probably about a 5-7 minute walk from Porthminster Beach. There is a car park right above the beach also, however like all parking in this area it fills up early in the day and you have to get through the narrow streets of the main harbour to get there. Not a pesky seagull in sight!
