Thanks to Paul and Sarah, who looked after us so well. The accomodation was perfect and the breakfasts were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and our extended family members really appreciated the hospitality they received. A quiet location, which is convenient for town and beach. Sorry we missed Margaret - we would thoroughly recommend this Guest House.

We have just returned after a three night stay at Glanmor. We were encouraged to stay at Glanmor after reading such good reports on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The accommodation, facilities, breakfast were first class and exceeded expectation. Our room was large, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We will definitely visit again in the future.

We have been visiting St. Ives on an annual basis for over 25 years and stayed in pretty much the same place. However due to change of ownerships and closures we came across the Glanmor and have never regretted a single minute. In Margaret and Dennis you could not wish for finer hosts and the quality of the premises is unsurpassed. As an international business traveller I think I am well positioned to give an objective review and I can say the Glanmor is certainly the cleanest accommodation I have ever stayed in including many 5 star hotels, you could literally eat of the floors. Every year we return to find further investment in the rooms and facilities. The rooms are immaculately decorated with high quality fixtures and fittings and the beds are very comfortable.
The quiet location ensures a good night’s sleep away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Both Margaret and Dennis obviously have great pride in their delightful guest house and rightly so. The breakfast is to die for, nothing at all is too much trouble and we are always made to feel most welcome year in year out.
We honestly find one particular review unbelievable as we have never witnessed or overheard even the smallest complaint in all the years we have stayed here.
Ignore this one, read the rest and stay, you will not be disappointed.

We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else than with Margaret, Denis and the family when we visit St Ives. We've been staying with them several times a year for over 10 years now. Last year we made four visits and so far this year we've booked two, one being Easter. You need to book early because Margaret soon gets booked up! Our 6 year old grandaughter has been with us several times now and loves it just as much as we do.The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, the decor and furnishings are upgraded regularly, everywhere is always spotlessly clean, the breakfasts wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. What more could you ask for? It's not too much to ask that you treat someone else's home in the same way you'd want your own to be treated. There's always going to be the odd idiot out there who spoil things but thankfuly this is the extreme exception at Glanmor rather than anything near the norm.
Enjoy your stay!

We have been visiting St Ives now for the best part of 9 yrs,
Sometimes traveling down 2-3 times a year
We have been staying at the Glanmor now for some 4rys and wouldn’t stay anywhere else
We have always had a pleasant stay Margret and Dennis are always prepared to go that extra mile.
Like the time we had been out for my wife birthday by the time we had got back, our bedroom had been done out in birthday balloons and a small cake (this was a complete surprise to us both) .
The rooms are always tidy and comfortable even during November when we have stayed out of season.
My work often calls for me to travel and stay away from home so believe me I have stayed in some real dirty, uncomfortable Guest house and Hotels. It’s quite often the hotels that let their standards slip.
I find it very difficult to understand why someone would give such a bad report of this delightful friendly establishment.
My wife is one of the fussiest eaters, and has high standards yet we have never had to make one single complaint.
That just leaves me to say thanks for every warm pleasant stay, Keep up the good work.
The only criticism If you can call it criticism, is that some times by putting your selves out beyond all expectations, can make you feel as though we owe you something back in return.

Glanmore House is a lovely B&B. The room was large and tidy. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was very tasty (especially the nice grapefruit).
The shower was also very good: nice beam and nice temperature.
The family who runs is was very helpfull and nice.

We are sorry to be giving this guesthouse a less than positive review. The purpose of our trip was to have a relaxing birthday celebration for my partner. When we arrived we found the house itself and the rooms to be very nice. The bedrooms are spacious, light, airy and immaculately clean. There is a very nice conservatory on the front of the house, which overlooks the sea. The proprietors kindly provided us with soya milk and also provided a small birthday cake in the morning for my partner, generous touches. The breakfast was hot and delicious.

On the phone I had emphasised to the proprietor that we wanted somewhere quiet because we are both sensitive sleepers. Unfortunately, while the house is in a quiet position away from traffic, late at night and in the early morning we were awoken by the plumbing in our room which seemed to roar whenever somebody else in the house was running water. We had a terrible night's sleep. I do believe that the proprietors may not have realised before that this was an issue.

In the morning we saw the proprietor, Dennis on the stairs and we casually mentioned the problem and asked if there was another room available. He said there wasn't and that would have been the end of the issue had the proprietress who was passing not interrupted our discussion.

Unfortunately she seemed to take the issue very personally, suggested sarcastically that we could spend the day fixing the plumbing if we wanted to, got very stressed, told us she didn't want us writing on Trip-advisor and suggested that if we were unhappy she would rather that we leave. We were very shocked and shaken by this unexpected outburst. We left the house to go out for the day but we were so shaken that we decided that would in fact not want to stay another night. We returned and were told defensively that they had checked our room and found no noise therefore implying that we were either making it up or being purposely problematic which was humiliating.

Dennis, the proprietor tried to handle the situation as well as possible but I think we all felt very upset by it. We packed very swiftly and left. The next day, Sunday, my partner realised she had left some nearly full specialist, expensive Vichy and Clairins cosmetics in the bathroom in the guesthouse. We phoned but there was no answer so we left a message asking if they had found the items and offering to post a cheque to send them back to us. They did not reply so we tried several times but by the time we managed to get through the next day, Monday lunchtime they informed us that they had not only thrown the items away but that the bin-men had come in the morning so it was too late to redeem them. This was the icing on the cake of a very distressing weekend, which I'm afraid to say one month later still upsets us.

As I said, potentially Glanmor guesthouse is very nice but if you have a problem with sleep I would suggest you doublecheck the room. I also highly recommend that if you choose to stay here and have an issue make sure you discreetly talk to the proprietor and not his wife.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet night, doublecheck the plumbing in your room first!

I am sorry to hear that these visitors had a distressing experience when they stayed with us. In over 25 years we have never had any comments or complaints about noisy plumbing, and at the time I was shaken and taken aback by this complaint. After their request for a quiet room before they arrived, I had carefully chosen a room which I thought would suit them. This room has only one adjoining room and at the time this had only single occupancy – this lady left a review on TripAdvisor prior to this negative review. Since then we have had the plumbing checked and nothing adverse has been found.

With regards to the make-up, all that was left in the bathroom was a small polythene bag which looked toothpasty and old – it didn’t appear to contain valuable make-up and so unfortunately we did dispose of it on the Monday morning. To reassure any readers of this, over a season we return too many items to mention here, but in 2011 these included a toy hedgehog to Germany, several mobile phone chargers, cameras, leather jackets, nightwear, T-shirts and more than I can remember.

I appreciate we’re never going to please everybody all the time, but we will still endeavour to try.
