After my fourth visit to the Old Count House I felt it was about time I sang it's praises. It giives off an atomsphere of comfort and quiet relaxation. The rooms are well kept and clean. The building itself has an old world charm with a fascinating history. Ken & Cheyrl Canning do their utmost to make you feel welcome and have an enjoyable holiday. I can throughly reccomend a stay at their B & B. Doug Clarke

We stayed in this wonderful old B&B for 3 nights. The room was nice and clean and we had a very warm welcome. The breakfast was fantastic and we enjoyed our stay very much. The location was not to far from the town center, so that we could leave our car and walk.

We spent three nights in The Old Count House, and it's very quiet, the owners are very friendly and we had a lovely room with a view of the sea and the lighthouse. Very good range of breakfasts. The town is a five minute walk down the hill, maybe ten coming back up. We really, really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this lovely guest house for three nights in August, and had the most brilliant stay. The Old Count House was a perfect base from which to explore the beautiful town of St. Ives and the surrounding area. We had no problems whatsoever in finding the place, and were impressed to be able to park right outside. We were even greeted at the front door by the delightful owner, Cheryl, who gave us a wonderfully warm welcome.

After showing us to our room Cheryl took the time to chat to us about where we had travelled from and recommended places to eat in the town - and we were left with no doubt that she genuinely wanted to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Our en-suite room was beautifully furnished, with a gorgeous view out across the bay to Godrevy lighthouse. The bed was honestly more comfy than my own at home, and ensured we had a blissfully peaceful sleep each night.

Each morning we sat down to a hearty full English breakfast, perfectly cooked by Cheryl herself, and served with a smile by her handsome husband, Ken. We especially enjoyed our little chats with Ken and Cheryl after breakfast, both of whom we found to be not only excellent hosts but very engaging conversationalists and brilliant fun. They gave our stay such a personal touch which really helped make the weekend very special indeed, and by the final day we really did not want to leave!

In summary, we would recommend the Old Count House without reservation, and definitely hope to return in the future. Thanks again to the Cannings for their fabulous hospitality!

We had a truly delightful week's stay in the self catering studio apartment next door, let by Ken & Cheryl the owners of The Old Count House. The apartment had everything we needed but equally we felt if we had required anything else it would have been no trouble to our pleasant and friendly hosts.

St Ives and West Cornwall are beautiful places to visit and well worth the trip. Being just up the hill from the town meant a steep but very quick (5 mins) walk down the hill (15 mins back!). However the Park & Ride service runs regularly until into the evening (approx. 8pm) at a cost per person of 95p for a single journey whilst a taxi for two was £3.30. An added bonus of the apartment was a parking space (quite rare for smaller self catering properties in St Ives) and the glorious views across the bay from the balcony.

Our stay at the old Count house was a surprise from Family and friends and arranged by our teenage daughter. Cheryl, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful from the start. On our arrival we were welcomed at the door before we'd even rung the bell. We loved the olde worlde quaities of the Old Count House, and although our room, with a lovely four poster bed and whirlpool bath ensuite, was on the ground floor, we were struck by how peaceful the house was.

Cheryl's breakfasts would set anybody up for a day at the beach, and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

We'd forgotten how beautiful St Ives is, and how lovely the beaches are. The Old counthouse is set up on the hill, very convenient for the park and ride into town, but away from the hussle and bussle. If you're feeling like walking off the breakfast its only a 5 minute walk down the hill into the centre of the town. We taxi'd back up after a meal and were only charged £4! Worth every penny!.

All in all Cheryl runs a quality guest house, and I would defy anybody to better it.

My partner and I have stayed at the bed and breakfast for two consecutive years. We came back to the Old Count House as we found it to be a lovely warm and welcoming place to stay. The building itself has a lot of history, the rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable with picturesque views of St Ives and to top it all, they have a good choice of breakfast that are always very tasty. I would strongly recommend staying at the Old Count House as I have no doubt you will have a very enjoyable stay and want for nothing.
