We recently got married at Tregenna outside in the pavillion. The setting was absolutely outstanding with the grounds being immaculately kept, combine that with the amazing weather we had, it really was the best day! The Godrevy room, where the dinner and reception was held looked great and the food was fantastic. All the staff were very friendly, the facilities were great, lots to choose from- gym, indoor & outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, golf and tennis courts all available. The breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. Our room was big and comfortable if a little dated and slightly dirty in the toilet but nothing too bad. Overall really enjoyed our time there and will be heading back

Decided to stay here having looked at many hotels in Beautiful St Ives and we were not disappointed. Arrived early at 11 o'clock in the morning and we were allowed to park our car in the large car park to the rear of the hotel, although the man in the little booth on the gate did mention we were early and reluctantly gave us a car park pass and let us in but we couldn't get to our room till 2 o'clock which is fair enough (we walked down into St Ives till check in).

Check in was prompt and efficient although no offer of help with our bags and cases was forthcoming and we never saw any porters helping other guests with their luggage during our stay here, maybe its something they don't practice here.......

Anyway room itself was excellent, clean well appointed and spectacular view out to the coast and St Ives (make sure you get a west wing room!). Lovely large comfortable bed, tea making facilities, large TV etc. Hotel is set in very beautiful well manicured grounds with golf course, botanical gardens and lovely scenic walks, you can walk down into St Ives from the gardens but it is a 20 minute walk down hill and subsequently 25 min walk back uphill!

Food was excellent throughout, lovely buffet breakfast with excellent choice of cereals, fruit yoghurt etc, and full cooked breakfast if required. Staff were pleasant and well mannered and one evening we had a carvery which was also excellent.

Wi-Fi is available but NOT in any rooms, along the main corridor outside reception and Restaurants with plenty of seating, reception here was very good. Wi-Fi in rooms is definitley a option for improvement and is becoming more and more expected in modern day hotels.

We made good use of the swimming pools and leisure facilities available, indoor pool was very warm although a little crowded at times and chlorine levels seemed a little high. On one occasion walking carefully from the spa pool along the side of the main pool i nearly slipped over on the quarry style tiles, although there is signage warning of this, I strongly recommend some kind of plastic matting walkway from the spa as this would negate this problem.Changing rooms were very clean and well monitored. Outside pool was excellent with plenty of seating and lovely private setting and water temperature was very pleasant for an outdoor pool.

One issue we did have was one of our party is disabled and on return to the hotel one afternoon we did find a disabled designated parking place occupied by a non disabled driver after a slight altercation he drove off. Mentioned this to reception who seemed to recognise the problem. I think this should be policed more often with clearer markings and signage for disabled drivers only, I do realise this is a problem nationwide in hotels, supermarkets and car parks and not just at this hotel but nether the less maybe more vigilance is required by staff.

Summing up, a very pleasant stay was had and although a few issues are mentioned in my review these are relatively minor and i would thoroughly recommend this hotel in its beautiful surroundings.

Thank you for your insightful and thorough review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your time with us and are grateful for any recommendations that you may make.
We do not have porters, but will happily assist our guests with their luggage, either in or out.
I remember speaking with you about the trouble that you encountered regarding the inconsiderate person parking in the disabled parking place. As I explained to you at the time, if we do not have a record of their licence plate, there is little that we can do other than leave a notice the wind screen. I am very sorry that you encountered such hostility, and sincerely hope that it did not cause you too much anguish. I also hope that we will have the pleasure of your company again.

Beautiful hotel with lovely spacious rooms in lovely location close to the beach (10 min walk). Lovely indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi and a kids paddling pool they also have an outdoor pool for the warmer months. The kids play ground is also nice with a trampoline.

Room Tip: We had room 62 overlooking the St Ives bay - really beautiful view and nice big room

First there was no information book in the room, which is normal for a hotel of this size, and is a useful point of reference.
We were not advised that the hotel was a wedding and coach stopover hotel.
We booked for a 4 night stay and found that the 1st 3 nights there were weddings in the hotel with the usual disco music reception, the first two nights this was close but not immediately under our room but the 3rd night the reception was immediately under our room. There was no double glazing in the bedroom and a number of boisterous (polite term) guests congregated under our room window and were in the rooms neighbouring ours consequently the night was very disturbed (polite term) There was also another function on night 4.On one morning the coach party was obviously leaving early and we were woken before 6 am by the coach and the banging whilst loading outside our window. Not exactly a quiet restful break.
Although tired in places the hotel and room was large and reasonably comfortable although the shower did not work (no hot water) on night 2 and although we reported it, it was not fixed and we had the same problem the next evening and although they came up and got it working the next morning we were already up and dressed and off to breakfast before leaving.
We booked on a half board basis and found the food was good. My partner is a celiac and the staff made every effort to accommodate her requirements. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
For a couple I am certainly not convinced this is a £170 a night hotel. (for a family in self catering maybe it’s better value I cannot really comment)

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and share your comments.
I am sorry that you were not informed of ongoing functions and for the disturbances that you experienced. It is our policy to inform guests in rooms above the function rooms, of any functions. I apologise for this oversight.
Thank you for complimenting the food and our staff.
Incidentally, the Housekeeping Manager has informed me that every room and self catering property should have an information folder.

We have just had 5 nights at Tregenna Castle Hotel and I am mightily disappointed. The hotel has been around for many years and used to be a very smart place today. While the position, views and gardens are still lovely, the hotel is far from smart. The room we stayed in was in very poor condition, especially the bathroom - there was hardly any enamel left on the bath! While the bed linen was clean, the carpets and decor left much to be desired. The main eating areas were dated and quite frankly lacked any ambience. There was a loud wedding 3/5 nights with drunken guests lurching all over the place. We will not be staying again.

Room Tip: Some rooms have been refurbished so if you are determined to stay here, make sure you book a refurbished room.
