Lovely home baked cakes and scones normal or gluten free.
Generous helpings of cream and jam AND could ask for more-very unusual.
Tea could be a bit stronger but overall excellent.

I have visited this tearoom as a single traveller on several occasions now and it does not disappoint. The staff are always helpful and proud of their produce. The scones fresh from the oven and wonderful local Cornish tea. Always a nice table. So many establishments push single travellers into a horrid corner to save better tables for larger parties. This has made me return both with guests and in order to purchase Tregothnan tea to take back home. Coffee and cake also rated well.

At the end of an enjoyable week in Cornwall, we decided to spend a second day in St Ives.
Tired, hungry and weary after the whole travelling experience, we finally flopped into The Tea Room, mid-morning, looking for a quick bite and a hot brew....
Beautiful sandwiches, good, strong coffee and pleasant, happy, intelligent staff.
What a revelation.
Go there.
Imagine living in the middle of a Mumford and Sons CD, whilst munching the best beef and horseradish sandwich ever, washed down with top quality espresso... With a few, good natured chuckles thrown in for good measure.
Good people. Good food, good times.

We visited the Tea Room after reading the reviews. The place didn't disappoint.
Situated at the end of Quay Street and overlooking the sea, it is a lovely place to stop and treat yourself: beautiful sight out of the window and beautiful food. Lots of home cooked dishes to chose from, cakes, including Gluten Free ones, loose teas and coffees, etc. The 3 of us ordered a ham and chutney sandwich, a child cheese sandwich and a cream tea. The ham and chutney sandwich was huge and very tasty. The bread was very fluffy (from a local bakery), the ham and chutney of a very good quality. The child sandwich was generous filled to say the least. Both dishes came with crisps and a side salad, the adult one served with a dressing. The cream tea was gorgeous: lashings of clotted cream and strawberry conserve (we were told by the lovely waitress that we could ask for more if we wanted to) and two fluffy/crumbly scones. We decided to order a pot of tea for two and chose the Cornish tea Tregothnan. It was so delicious we had to order another pot. Without any doubt, one of the best cream tea I've ever had. As for the staff: they are courteous but busy, which explain why they may not spend too long chatting with their customers. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant though. We would definitely recommend the Tea Room.
