“Very nice dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

From the outside this looked like an 'old man's pub' but once inside we quite surprised how nice it was, the decor & atmosphere was very nice. We ate here twice, firstly a Sunday carvery which was extremely busy (but we arrived early and were first ones in the queue!). This was one of the best carverys we'd ever had, which was then made obvious why it was so popular. We then ate here for lunch & had good food again. Would highly recommend!

“Good honest food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

For those looking to eat in St, Ives, I'll recommend this place as an excellent place for pub grub. Don't be fooled into thinking that because it's a bar, the food will be archetypal ping food a la Spoons. The food is excellent and good value for money. One of our party had the dressed crab special - he's a fisherman and was impressed with the quality. I had steak and ale pie, which was simply delish...my only comment would be that the portion was huge and too much for me!

The staff are friendly, the food is good and well priced, it's by the seaside - what more could one want from a low key evening meal?

Thank you for taking time to share your experience and post your review. We take great pride in providing great food and great drinks in our Pub, backed up with great customer service. It is lovely to read that one of your party enjoyed the Dressed Crab Special which has been so popular with so many of our customers from our Daily Special's Board!
We look forward to welcoming you back soon,

“Pasty with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Whenever we are in St Ives we usually find ourselves in here for lunch or coffee and over the years its ranged from Ok to oh dear it needs a refurb to its closed! Thankfully the latter hasn't happened in a few years and its currently one of our favourite places for lunch.

We popped in last Friday and although busy we were lucky enough to find a table in the window overlooking the harbour. We opted for pasty and chips and were not disappointed. The menu says locally sourced which appealed and the pasty tasted as good as it looked on the plate with just enough chips to make it a perfect lunch. Washed down with Korev lager and wine for me we spent a very relaxing hour only leaving reluctantly as we could see others would love our table and a chance to enjoy the view with their lunch.

Service was probably the best we have encountered here with very cheerful staff who keep the tables cleared and the queues at the bar to a minimum. All of this and they still found time to support Macmillan coffee morning with home baked cakes. They looked lush but we were too full and made a donation instead. I did however pick up a great tip for the cheesecake base from one of the servers.

“Improved beyond recognition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Went in for an "off the cuff" beer for the first time in 6 or 7 years, the place was tidy well laid out and the food coming out of the kitchen looked really good.
