We had a wonderful stay there. To be met by Elvis Presley was a treat and we were made so very welcome. Rooms were clean, big tv screen, good shower and most of all i loved Rob and Sylvia. Breakfast excellent. So, big thank you to you both and hope to see you again soon.

We would like to say a big "thank you " to Sylvia and Rob for a great 5 night stay at their hotel " The Countryman" tucked away in the Cornish countryside. The minute you arrive a very warm welcome greets you. Our room was very clean and comfortable, including the en suite shower room. The food is traditional and fresh, breakfast has many options from healthy to Full English, nothing is too much trouble to cater for all your holiday needs.
The grounds are superb for an afternoon Cornish tea, and so peaceful to relax in . Well recommended , Thank you , hope to come again.......

Room Tip: We had room two, on the first floor , ideal for a couple and very comfy, En Suite shower room , ver...

If you are considering a trip to St Ives and want a little bit of English heaven away from squawking seabirds then look no further than The Countryman at Trink. Here you can be assured of the warmest of welcomes and the most comfortable of stays.
It isn’t every establishment that gives motorcyclists a welcome but our hosts could not have been more accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
Our accommodation was outstanding value, very stylish with large rooms and man size showers. Breakfast was a feast and the full English freshly cooked to perfection.
Sylvia and Robert, you did us proud. Thank you very much. We shall return.

Note for Bikers - Robert will be installing covered hard standing for bikes in due course
.

Room Tip: Room number six was delightfull.

If you want a very comfortable, quite hotel with its own garden and patio area this could be the one for you, rooms are large and very clean,we had an upstairs room with 1 double bed and 2 singles, bathroom and shower is is fitted to a very high standard. Sylvia and Robert made us feel that nothing was too much trouble, a good bar that stays open quite late and in the morning a very well cooked full English breakfast, also juice ,fruit , and a selection of cold meats and cheese if you prefer, we arrived on motorcycles and Robert allowed us to park them very close to the main entrance to make them a little more secure. We hope to use the Countryman again,we were all impressed.

Whilst travelling around Cornwall we stumbled on the Countryman in Trink close to St Ives our experience was so positive we booked an extra night following a sumptuous breakfast. Weather not great but we received the warmest of welcomes. Large comfortable rooms added to our pleasure.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we had a wonderful stay. They had a great deal on and we saved a lot! The breakfast was continental and cooked, was delicious. They didn't have hash browns but if you really want them you could request them to have them in for your stay (most likely) (I just love hash browns). Very friendly couple that run the place. We had the family room for two of us with a big tv and great pillows! We also enjoyed the bar area and the pool table. The location is good too not to far from st ives or carbis bay, we had a car so that would be recommended. Great place!

I read the reviews on the Countryman before booking and looked at their website... all looked and sounded great but I'd have to confess to being a little disappointed.

The rooms are fine, although the combination of rustic 'washroom sign' in the bedroom, African painting and 'feature wall' was a little bizarre. The rooms has pretty much everything you'd want although the TV didn't work on the first night due to 'atmospheric conditions'. Seems when there's heavy misty cloud the signals can't quite make it to the back of the TV... but we were offered CDs so that was OK (well, not really... possibly not their fault, but not mine either).

The staff were pleasant enough but didn't offer unsolicited help or advice about the area. The lady on reception couldn't tell us how much a taxi to St Ives might be, possibly about £8.00? Similarly she couldn't really offer enlightenment on the bus service... we'd seen one pass the previous afternoon. I could sort of live with that but surely it's not the first time someone has asked either question... and, if you don't know, offer to find out for us?

There's nothing particularly wrong with breakfast but it is clearly mostly from a commercial catering supplier... packets of butter, jams, marmalade, sachet of sauce, brioche from the supermarket. Again, I can sort of understand that when the place is almost empty (as it was the 3 days we stayed) a small place like this can't afford to waste fresh produce but you can't help thinking they're missing a trick by not serving local produce. It was suggested that they would be busier at the weekend... so, maybe, they get the good stuff out then?

Worth noting too that neither of our mobiles had reception (nor my MiFi) so if you're looking somewhere peaceful for a few days... this could be the place!

This doesn't sound all that positive; our room was £80 a night including breakfast and, in truth, that's probably about fair in comparison with places in the middle of St Ives but then they are in the middle of St Ives not a few miles out. It's also very convenient to be able to drive 5 minutes to the park and ride and hop on the train... easier and cheaper than driving and parking in town.

So, as I said earlier... I was a little disappointed overall. There's nothing wrong really and, maybe, the place hums at the weekends when it's full but for our stay it was a bit dismal and quiet. I'd probably try somewhere else next time.
