Had an excellent meal at the Seagrass Restaurant. We both had Scallops followed by cod and steak and the dessert was delicious. The service and food were very good and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

We went for my partners 30th! Happy occasion with 7 guests on a Monday evening!
Unfortunately we all left hungry and felt rather out of pocket! Expensive food not very well cooked and very small portions for your money! I counted 6 broad beans on my sea bream, if the menu wording says strawberries it doesnt normally mean 3 slices! The service however was excellent! Foreign lady was extremely professional and efficient, saved the occasion! Don't think any one in our party would be looking to return.

We are sorry to read your review and we would like to respond accordingly. Over the last month or so, changes in the kitchen structure have had a significant effect on the restaurant which has not always been good and has been reflected in recent reviews. We are always grateful for feedback and any criticisms made are always acted on so that we can improve. Circumstances over the last few months have required us to make some very fundamental changes which have finally been implemented this week and we hope that our new Head Chef and his delicious menu will over shadow the recent disappointments that we have faced.

We visted St Ives on May Bank Holiday and managed to book a meal at the Seagrass for four on the Saturday, for that night. We arrived at 7pm and so were eligible for their "early bird" menu. This had about four choices for each course and cost an amazing £19.95 for three courses. The atmosphere was very friendly and quite casual; the staff were really welcoming and attentive. We had a lovely evening with some amazing food; special mention must go to the the roast belly pork; sea bass and the creme brulee for dessert.

The menu here is quite interesting, especially for fish eaters. We ate fresh sea-bream, which was very nicely cooked and the accompanying beetroot, broad beans and other vegetables were slightly unusual. The wine was also good.

The restaurant was very noisy with a loud party of people spoiling the atmosphere. Price was a bit steep too - £55 for two main courses + a bottle of wine.

We were trying to save visiting Seagrass until the end of our week in St Ives but on the thursday we'd out sight-seeing and got back late.
Seagrass was very close to where we were staying, so convenient after a long day out. We hadn't booked but they made us quite welcome and let us peruse the menu in comfort despite being late-ish.
My wife started with pan-fried local scallops with cucumber, lime & avocado mousse, I chose blowtorched squid with watercress, apple & garden pea purée.
Both starters were of a very high standard and perfectly cooked. My wife's only complaint was that for the price she'd have hoped for one more scallop....

For mains we both selected sea bass which as one of the accompaniments had golden beetroot. The bass was cooked to absolute perfection and a credit to the chef's ability, which I felt the need to pass on there and then.
To go with the meal we found a very rare Pecorino which is a fantastic wine with seafood.
It's not cheap but worth every penny indeed. The atmosphere there was relaxed and the music subtle.

This is without doubt the best restaurant we found in St Ives and look forward to re-visiting some time in the future.

Hi and thank you for your great review - so glad you enjoyed it! Just to let you know.. comments taken on board regarding scallops - we have taken this up with our supplier and have actually changed supplier now to ensure the scallops we get are bigger/better :) We hope to see you again another time soon.
