Last year we enjoyed our meal, although we thought it over-priced. This year some items of food did not match the expected standard.

We chose a la carte, which included some delicious bread. But the amuse bouche was a cup of insipid potato soup, left-overs from the cheap earlybird menu. This was not stretching the chef's culinary skills, or his generosity.

The fish soup & baked camembert were very good. The venison & cod were perfect & beautifully presented. However, the jus was bitter & the vegetables were very poorly cooked/reheated, which spoiled the dish.

A calypso coffee contained such strong coffee that the Tia Maria was undetectable.

Apart from this, the serving staff were very friendly & efficient. Their website needs updating with the March opening times, and these times on the door would also be helpful.

The earlybird menu would give a reasonable meal at a fair price. But the chef needs to improve the fine option dining to match other restaurants with their more appealing locations.

Sorry to read that you did not enjoy some aspects of your meal with us.. and we would like to reply accordingly.
The amuse bouche does change on a daily basis - granted the bouche that evening was the same as the soup option but it is changed daily and is complementary, as is the bread, which we hope our customers appreciate.
The jus on the venison does contain a bitter dark chocolate which we have tested and tasted and we find compliments the gamey flavour of the venison. We can assure you that the vegetables are cooked fresh daily - so apologies if for some reason they did not appear so.

I have updated our website for opening times - thanks for the reminder :) and will be updating the times on our door too. We do hope you try us again and enjoy all aspects of your dining with us.
Kind Regards

Well you know when you go to a restaurant and you just love your food but the other persons food just looks a little bit better, Well i had one of those nights.
The food was great on both plates I might add and we will definitely be back. Just keep up the good service and quality food, I would award a Michelin star for you no worries.

Thanks

If you want some lovely food in a chilled out atmosphere with really top class service I would recommend Seagrass. The pre-dinner cocktails were delicious and my partner would highly recommend scallops, if they are on the menu, and I thought the veggie options were tasty too. There was a large cheese plate, big enough to share, filled with lovely local cheese. Prices would maybe make this a bit of a special meal venue.....although the early dining deal seemed really reasonable.

The staff are helpful, flexible and very knowledgable.

I ate mainly from the early bird menu but was also able to mix and match from the a le carte menu too.

The food was gorgeous and big portions too.

I enjoyed a gorgeous meal at the Seagrass and would recommend it to anyone.
