“Dont book this cottage thinking that it has been refurbished - it hasnt”

The bungalow is clearly not in the condition described or suggested by the photos displayed on the website. Our experience of the accommodation was not a pleasant one, and as a result, we did not enjoy our holiday. In fact my daughter refused to allow her children to sleep in the beds and promptly booked herself into alternative accommodation. I am very angry about the whole situation and consider the advert is very misleading to say the least. The bathrooms had dirty grouting with mould and dirt in the corners. The showers cubicles were ingrained with dirt and kitted out with disgusting shower fittings covered with black gunge and rust. The taps were also encrusted with dirt and rust. The ensuite is a joke I am only size 10 and 5ft tall and I struggled to get in and use it. Throughout the bungalow you will find dirty lampshades, damp patches on the ceilings and dirty marks on the walls and paintworks. The kitchen has worn out worktops surrounding the sink accompanied by a rusty and dirty crockery drainer. Dirty and rusty cooking equipment and kitchen utensils are freely available to those who dare to use them. The bungalow is described on the website as 'cosy and comfortable' yet the lounge suite is falling to bits, totally worn out and in need of replacement. The dining furniture leaves a lot to be desired and the electronic equipment such as the TV etc. is so outdated it's barely audible. The stains on the ceilings suggest indicate damp in the bedrooms; the mattresses were old lumpy and not very clean and the duvets and pillows were badly stained. Externally-the BBQ was totally unfit for use and covered in snails. These issues were reported to the owner who suggested they were unwarranted because of comments other people had made. Which, strangely enough, didn't appear on this website until after I had made my feelings known. If you book this cottage thinking it has been refurbished - think again- because it hasn't.

A fictitious and entirely unwarranted review. Also totally at odds with everyone else: there's just no pleasing some people. Why don't you pay £70/night each and stay in a hotel next time and you might find what you're after.

There actually is a garage available which you parked in front of: therefore there are two parking spaces at least (a smaller car can be fitted alongside to allow for 3 at a push). New furniture for 2014.

“Great and welcoming place to stay in St.Ives”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had a fantastic family holiday in St. Ives staying at Avoca Cottage.
It was a great place to stay with everything we needed.

The large grassed backyard was ideal for the children to play.

Avoca Cottage is a perfect base to explore the local area - we visited both Penzance and Lands End.
