Weather was not good but a warm welcome great location and wonderful food! The meal was plentiful and surprisingly inexpensive.

Had a good stay with a bonus lovely warm swim. Would certainly go back again.

Room Tip: The larger room was great.

We stayed a week at the Garrack in May. There was a lovely view of the gardens and sea from our window. The staff were friendly and our room clean and comfortable. The food was of a consistently high quality - it's worth eating here even if you're staying elsewhere. It was a bit of a walk into town, so it might not suit the very elderly.

We've been regular guests at this very friendly and professionally run hotel for many years and are always made to feel very welcome on each visit. Superb location with brilliant views of St Ives and the Porthmeor Beach. Excellent leisure centre with an indoor pool that sells refreshments all day. Oh and the food isn't bad at all with excellent dishes mostly using local produce with very friendly restaurant staff. Sounds to good to be true so why not go for a visit and see for yourselves.

Room Tip: All rooms are good having used the majority of them in our many visits.

A lovely hotel nestling on the hillside overlooking St Ives. Personally managed, laidback, with time for their guests, he hotel has a slightly understated, faded glory image, being an older building that has under gone numerous alterations over time. We stayed in the 2 roomed annex (orginally an artists studio) which has stunning views of Porthmeor beach, an ample sized room, good bathroom and oh so quiet.
Nothing was too much trouble, for any of the staff, everyone of them seemd to take a delight in making our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was a delight, but finished at 09:30am which at weekends needs to be extended, the dinning room is a delight with many tables looking out towards the bay. The restuarant is worth staying in for, an excellent chef using locally sourced food and offering an intresting wine list including Cornish wines at reasonable prices.
The leisure centre has a pool, spa, small gym and a sauna, plus snacksand refreshments were available throughout the day, either inside or out on small sea-facing terrace.
It is certainly a hotel I'd return to
About 10-15 minutes walk to the Tate St Ives and Porhtmeor beach.
Only 1 note of caution the hill from Porthmeor beach back to the hotel is not for the feint hearted!

Room Tip: If you don't mind steps, then room 15 in the little annex is a lovely sunny, quiet, sea facing r...

I stayed at the Garrack from 9-12th May, and coming from London, it was just what I needed. A quiet retreat and haven which, to me, was heaven! The staff were amazing, and Stephen and Michael (the owners) were lovely, friendly and took the time to talk to all their guests. The weather let me down because it rained for most of my stay, but having left rainy London, I was well prepared and knew the forecast (though without a coat) so I bought a windbreaker which is my souvenier of St. Ives:).

The food in the restaurant was also of an excellent standard and having let them know of my dietary requirements in advance of my stay, they were prepared for me and did an amazing job in modifying my dishes.

If it weren't for my job:) I would drive 300+ miles again in a heart beat to stay at the Garrack.

I am most definitely going to return at the first opportunity I get.

Thank you to all the staff who made my stay so enjoyable....
xx

Room Tip: If you appreciate a sea view, I'd recommend asking for a seaview room...room 23 was ideal.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Garrack, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the view from our bedroom was stunning and the room was comfortable and spacious. The only drawback was no shower head on the bath taps and as there was no shower hair washing was a bit of a performance with a jug! The food was very good, we had breakfast dinner and cream tea, all delicious. The hotel is in a great position for exploring St. Ives as long as you are fit enough to make it back up the hill. Would recommend this hotel highly.

We stayed for the weekend recently. The room was ok and had a lovely view but as some others have mentioned there is a serious issue with the showers so that we were alternately scalded and then frozen as the water changed temperature at will. I politely enquired about this on two occasions but the man at reception (who may have been the owner) was distinctly uninterested despite my best efforts. There was no effort to do anything about this. The set menu in the evenings was quite limited and average quality rather than fine dining. The waiting staff were friendly but at times lacking in offering basic services e.g. offering coffee at the end of the meal. When we stopped someone we were told that someone else would have to come and offer this but they never did. As others have mentioned the spa was booked out for other things at times during out stay. We wanted to walk the costal path but the lady at reception in the afternoon could not tell us how to get to it and ended up arguing with someone else about whether you had to turn right or left. There were no maps or leaflets about local walks when we enquired but later that evening an old map was found and lent to us for a walk. We enquired how far it was to the next village and we were offered a ruler so we could measure it ourselves on the map. We were suprised at the lack of local knowledge or information. The hotel and spa seem tired and desperately in need of some revitalising. Such a lovely spot and it could be wonderful in our opinion but it is not more than average at the moment.
