Wonderful hotel. Friendly, comfortable, Good atmosphere. Stunning views over the beach near the (over-rated) Tate Galley. Very nice staff, a proprietor who clearly loves his gin (the hotel tonic water was Fever Tree so that's proof enough), and convenient for Penzance town (though the walk home, back up the hill, meant that I kept looking hopefully over my shoulder for a bus).

Dinner was superb. I can still remember the grilled Monkfish starter, and the apple cobbler with sauce anglais for pudding. Main course could have been slightly more generous (one extra potato and another medallion of pork-loin would have been just perfect) but with hindsight that would have taken the edge off the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. So nothing to complain about there.

Even more impressive, we filled in the questionaire and gave the hotel 5 marks for everything, except the room (Room number Seven) to which we awarded a 4, because of an intrusive noise outside at night which we put down to air-con or the boiler. The owner was standing by in reception as we were leaving, and I showed him the form. No "Mr Fawlty" angst, just a ruminative: "Well, there's a cold store nearby. Might have been that, as it cut in and out. Hope it didn't spoil your stay;" It didn't.

We will definitely be going back a number of times (not in Room Seven though) and otherwise I throughly reccomend this excellent, high quality, family-run hotel. And every night we'll be dining in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Not Room Seven if you are seeking a REALLY quiet night. But if you live near a motorway then you pr...

Just returned from a two night break at "The Garrack Hotel" with a Groupon voucher,we were absolutely thrilled by the location, accomodation and the food was fantastic. On recommendation we booked into a local restaurant for our second night, but, wish we had dined in the hotel instead.
We have and will be recommending "The Garrack Hotel" to all our friends and relations, who frequently visit St Ives.
We are looking forward to our return.

Room Tip: We would, but, we want to keep the room number secret.

Recently returned from long w/end at The Garrack. Great location with parking being a bonus. Last stay in the old town meant leaving car in council car park and walking with cases to accommodation as road too narrow for car. Fantastic views over Porthmeor Beach from our bedroom. Wonderful food and service. Would recommend.

I booked a 3 day break with a Groupon voucher, and have to say i was more than pleased with the hotel and location. On the top of the cliffside, overlooking Porthmeor beach, the views were stunning, and the hotel itself was a really good standard in all aspects of my stay. The food was absolutely mouth watering, and ive paid a lot more to eat at Rick Steins when ive stayed in Cornwall previously, but i have to say it matched up to that! The restaurant provided lovely food, the staff were all friendly and efficient-but that was the case in all areas of the hotel, and the sea views at breakfast were an ideal way to start the day! There was lots of coastal walks to go on, and only 5 minutes walk to the sandy beach below. The rooms were a very high standard, and mine had a lovely sea view. The little touches were appreciated as well, such as cornish clotted cream biscuits in your room, along with the usual tea/coffee. The pool etc offered a welcome diversion after a long walk- definately a hotel i will stop in again, even without such a good offer on.... a little piece of cornish sunshine :-)

Just back got back from a 2 day break at the Garrack hotel couldn't fault anything. They even changed the evening meal for my low fat diet request!
If your looking for a quiet get a way, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Pick a sea view room, you can lie in bed and look out to sea (we had room23)

Booked a 2 night stay as part of a Groupon voucher deal. Hotel is in a lovely location and, due to the long driveway, seems 'away from it all' when in fact you're only a 5-10 min walk away from the centre of St Ives. We paid additional for a sea view room and this was def well worth it. The room was large, spacious and very clean. The bathroom was split into 2 which was ideal for us. The bed was really comfy but the pillows were just a tad too hard for me but that is just purely personal preference. The owners were lovely genuine people, they gave us a lovely welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our deal included breakfast every day which consisted of cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurt etc then a choice or a cooked breakfast. Everything was cooked fresh and my food allergies were no problem at all for the chef. We ate in the restaurant on the second evening and again had a wonderful meal. Another plus point was the parking at this hotel. Couldn't fault anything at all and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Sea view room
