I had wanted to stay at the Pedn Olva since I was a girl of 16 (many years ago), when I could only look at the place from the beach and marvel at how swanky it looked. Well, I got around to it this year and I was not disappointed. We had a super greeting at reception from Jane, who was brave enough to lug my enormous case up the stairs. The room was small, but that didn't matter, as we had a balcony with the most incredible view over St Ives Bay. The bathroom was lovely with a good shower. The heated pool and loungers overlooking the beach are a delight. The quality of the food is excellent and the breakfast buffet is one of the best we have ever experienced. The only small downsides were firstly, the slowness of service both at dinner and at breakfast. Breakfast didn't bother us unduly, as we were happy just to sit and admire the view, but the man on the next table to us complained, got up and walked out! Secondly, the balcony was not completely private, being open to next door, which meant we didn't feel we could leave the door open at night, but we supposed this was because of fire regs? I have noticed from other comments that parking can be a problem, but I cannot comment, as we have friends in St Ives so we were able to park at their home and were given a lift to the hotel. I want to come back soon!

Room Tip: Balcony room has superb views

Came down on the train from Lelant, where we were staying, for an evening meal with friends. Very convenient as it's just a few minutes walk from the terminus - train or bus. Sat upstairs overlooking the bay with pre-dinner drinks and then wandered down to the restaurant . Food was very good. Staff also good. Would definitely come back again.

Lovely hotel, staff were very friendly. Rooms on the small side, but with all there is to do around the hotel that's not a bad thing. Would definitely go back. Parking is the only downside, would recommend using the park and ride rather than trying to find a space in St Ives

A group of 13 had no plans for lunch and as we walked into the town popped into the Pend Olva after spotting the lovely terrace from the road! We made our way up to the terrace and everything went perfectly from there. The views, the food, service and facilities! It was ideal as it avoided all he crowds of town and a big group of us got to take it the views of the harbour together!! :)

We popped in here several times, usually for a drink on the Terrace. The views are wonderful, it's not cheap, but it's worth it. Food here is excellent and again pricey but you're on your hols and deserve at treat!

Room Tip: Sea view is a must if you stay here

I know that I should write that this hotel is terrible, service poor, bad location.....if I did this might make it easier for me to book when I want a short break. It might put people off going there......but I suppose that wouldn't be fair on this fantastic hotel or the great staff that work there. So I will be totally honest....

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Unbelievable location right on the waters edge looking over the harbour towards the town of St Ives. Its just had major expensive refurbishment to create a modern stylish small boutique hotel.

We booked late as we wanted to make the most of the great weather we have been having in the S/West and we wanted a couple of days just sitting on the beach. We booked via booking.com and there was only one room left and we paid the standard room rate. When we arrived it was a brilliant surprise to find that the room we booked was the only one left...but not a standard room ...we were given the best room in the hotel.....the large spacious luxury state room !!!! virtual wrap around windows with stunning all round views of the bay and the harbour. Huge double bed and a roll top bath under the bathroom window were you could sit with a glass of bubbly watching the activities of the harbour......pure indulgent luxury. This room usually is in excess of £200 per night and we only paid the standard price. So a big thanks for the hotel for letting us have this great room at the standard price.

We have always wanted to stay at this hotel but its nearly always fully booked when we wnat to go. Can see the reason now.

There is a really good roof terrace bar to take in the views and the restaurant/bar is large and comfortable again with the views. The hotel is designed to make the most of the views form every facility.

We had a great freshly cooked breakfast. Every member of staff was courteous, genuine and friendly.

We were not let down and we intend to stay there on many more occasions in the future. Just got to hope there are vacancies.......maybe I should have written a terrible review!!

Room Tip: if you can afford to.....book the state room....you won't want to leave the room!!

Stayed here for 3 nights during the July heatwave. Absolutely loved every minute! Brilliant location, awesome views, helpful friendly staff, reasonable prices. A friend recommended it to us, and we'd recommend it to anyone. The reception staff were great helping us to stay 2 more nights than we intended to!
