What a beautiful location and only 10 minutes walk into the town! My husband and I had a very relaxing break here. Our room was really nice. The food was excellent, vegetarians well catered for! Excellent service from all the staff, well worth a visit.

We stayed in this hotel at the end of March 2009 and really enjoyed the hotel but the weather was really bad (poured down with rain for 2 days).

We were supposed to be flying to our holiday on 18 April 2010, but because of the volcano, all flights were cancelled. Remembering this hotel from last year, I logged onto Laterooms.com and booked this hotel again. I never wrote a review for last year, but I thought that I should write one for this year as once again we really enjoyed the hotel (this time the weather was great).

When we checked in, the receptionist welcomed us back to the hotel (as their system had flagged up that we had stayed before). This was a nice touch. Although we stayed in a different type of room this time (without a sea view), we knew what to expect as the website (via Laterooms.com) made it clear that the room overlooks woodland. This was not a problem. The room itself was clean and warm and had all of the facilities that were required.

The breakfast was self service and we found this to be fine. The food in the heated trays was fresh and hot. What more could you ask for. On the first morning the breakfast staff did not say much to us and didn’t seem that happy, but on the second morning they seemed fine (just a bad day I guess).

We did not eat dinner at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the evening meals.

The car park was a bit small and I had to park in the rear car park, which is a little awkward to drive too. There have been some comments about this, but I didn’t find it a problem. The split car park is not a fault of the hotel, just simply geographical layout and once parked, the route to get into the hotel reception was well signposted.

We ate our evening meals in the town and found an Italian restaurant called Peppers to be about the best for value and quality. St Ives is a great place and this hotel is in a great location. Unlike our previous visit, the sun was shining and we spent a fair bit of time on the beach.

Can’t recommend St Ives enough, and the Chy-an-Albany is a very good hotel if you don’t want to be in the thick of it and you like a good sea view.

Must mention that we were impressed with the hotel receptionist, she was really welcoming and friendly. What is quite unusual is that she showed us to our room, which again is a nice touch.

Would definitely stay at the Chy-an-Albany again.

A group of friends ( nine) stayed at Chy-an-Albany in St Ives for a weekend in January 2010, what a great time we had. Itis a beautiful hotel exellent cleanliness, bedrooms well equiped, dinning room and lounge very comfortable. All the meals we had were excellent, varied with a good selection on the menues. All the staff from management to receptonist to cleaners were very helpfull and polite.WE would certainly return and recommend this hotel to anyone,as it is in a lovely part of Cornwall, lovely scenery, walks and small coves to laze away ( in summer) . This is all the best parts the down side is your time goes too quickly

Excellent experience staying at this hotel overlooking the bay. The staff were courteous, helpful, informative, each with a smile...which is important in meeting visitors.

The food was of a high standard. Combine quality service and quality food...you have a memory of a great vacation.

Finally St Ives is famous for artistic inhabitants of this town, and this hotel promotes the art flair of this principality, in the foyer, dining room and bedrooms, which is a blend never seen before.

Good luck for the future...will stay again.

This is our second visit to Chy An Albany and what an improvement since our visit their 2 years ago. It was OK then and the views are still the same from the sea view rooms and that is why we returned as we love St Ives and it is only a short walk into the town.
But it is so obviously under new management (that was a dissapointment last time) and wow does it show. The staff cant do enough for you and the management are so helpful too.
A New Bistro restaurant with food as good as any restaurant in the town with local artists's work featured on the walls. The Bar and reception have been redecorated with new furniture in the conservatory that overlooks the bay.
Our room also had a local artist featured on the bedroom walls and the views are still as fantastic as ever of the beach and the bay and we had a great nights sleep on a comfortable hotel bed!
We wont leave it two years until our next visit that's for sure.
