“Nice hotel - helpful staff”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

We had a very nice 6 nights BB in this Hotel in St Ives. Car parking wasnt a problem with there being a car park in the front and a larger one around the back. If you parked at the back it was easy to walk into the hotel from the back. The staff were very friendly and polite. You need to be reasonably fit to walk upwards back from the St Ives Town. Our room was nice but we would of preferred our 16 year old to have been given a real bed (not a put up bed) as when we booked I did say she was 16. The bed she was given was making a few noises from the beginning and then gave way when she sat on it one day! The staff changed it to another put up bed which seemed better straight away. The bathroom was nice but very small. The wardrobe was an open fronted one like at a travelodge. We enjoyed the buscuits left by the maids every day - thank you. Whilst we were there the bar was very quiet at night - we enjoyed the free wi fi and the board games. There was a college visit whilst we were there - tho they were very discreet being there was a crowd of them. One night we heard a 'row' not sure who it was but if it had carried on we would of phoned reception as it was a bit scary. ie someone saying 'if you dont alter your ways you wont stay another night' etc. Breakfast plentiful, tasty - be nice if you were a lucky one to get the sea view. PS In room 31 you can hear the wedding disco kept us awake until it finished - we were told being second floor we wouldnt hear it.

Room Tip: Children might get put up beds ask if you need real one. Ask how large bathroom is. You need to be...

Stayed for two nights in October. Had requested a twin room but none were available so we were up graded to a family room. It was great. Two large beds and a balcony with table and chairs with water views. Easy walk in to St Ives. Parking in the front a bit of a squeeze but plenty of room out the back. Able to access the hotel through the back entrance. Room was clean and well looked after. Breakfast was good. We dined in the hotel restaurant on one evening at\nd it was excellent. Served by pleasant and friendly young staff.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 7

We wanted a quiet few days away on the coast without costing the earth and this hotel was perfect. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with my gluten-free diet needs. The location was brilliant and the free car park meant we could leave the car there without having to venture through the horrendous tiny roads of St Ives. We had one of the cheaper rooms and the bathroom was in need of a bit of an upgrade but, other than that, a brilliant stay.

The location of this hotel is excellent, situated above the little train station at St Ives, so just a 5 minute walk up to the hotel.
Our room and bathroom were small, but clean, comfortable and cosy.
The staff were very friendly, polite and efficient.
We would definitely return.

Stopped here for one night on business, did not use restaurant (although looked very good food and value) but rest of hotel felt a bit tired, no wifi in room which was shame as no phone signal in this part of town for me. Bathroom was okay but again it was very small. The bed was two singles pushed together and even with the mattresses zipped the joint us always there. The BIG plus point was the breakfast overlooking the bay, fantastic food and view. In summary an okay hotel with great food!

A few friends and I were invited to a 60th Birthday near St Ives, so one of the group found us this hotel at the last minute. The reviews looked good on the internet and so did the photo's. When we arrived, the reviews were definitely true. We were greeted by very friendly staff who made the check in very smooth and also we were escorted to our bedrooms and given a tour of the rooms and facilities by a very friendly and personable member of staff. Nothing was too much trouble.

The rooms were spotless, as was the rest of the hotel and the facilities although basic, were good. There is a tv and tea/coffee facilities in each room with a very comfortable bed and compact but modern en-suite.

There was a wedding taking place when we arrived, but this didn't make any difference to our visit. We were out for the evening later, so it didn't matter that the hotel were unable to provide food that evening.

After a few drinks in St Ives, we all headed back to our rooms, showered and headed to our friends party. The following morning we all met for breakfast and found again a very friendly welcome and a great selection of foods on offer. 3 of us chose the Local catch of smoked Haddock and poached egg, along with granola and fresh fruit to start. There was fresh toast, rich fresh coffee and if you wanted, a full Cornish breakfast with my favourite Hogs pudding. The breakfast was the best I had eaten when staying in a hotel in England, so hats off to the chef.

The views from the lounge and bar area over look the coast and despite the forecast rain, made us feel happy we had chosen this hotel. There is some parking at the front of the hotel and the town of St Ives is about a 10 minute walk down the hill.

It was so nice to see a hotel run professionally and with such friendly staff. Well done to the staff and managers, you made our flying visit to St Ives an enjoyable one. We hope to come back I the near future.

Room Tip: See if you can get a sea view!

We really like this hotel. The staff are friendly and efficient. It has a really good restaurant called The Lighthouse which you can book even if you aren't staying there. Parking at the front is very limited so you are better off going straight to the back car park.

The front room we stayed in was very spacious which often isn't the case in a lot of hotels I've stayed in. When we arrived we were supposed to have a bottle of wine waiting but there wasn't which was a disappointment and they'd lost our booking for the restaurant however they made up for it by giving us complimentary wine so we were happy.

All that considered it's still a great hotel and I would definitely return.
