“A collection to treasure.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Iconic sculptures in an intimate setting. So much more meaningful to see these pieces in Dame Barbara's own garden, their edges softened by late summer foliage and spiders' webs, than singly placed outside corporate buildings. Ashamed to say I knew very little about the life and times of this nationally important sculptor before my visit. I do now! Her studio and workshop remain frozen in time, with her tools and unfinished works . Fascinating. Do visit, you won't be disappointed. Knowledgable, enthusiastic, friendly staff were happy to answer our queries and engage in conversation.

Yes indeed; What a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon, the sculptures in the garden were inspiring and the word of the guide really made and old art duffer like me better understand what art is about.

“Bringing sculpture to life”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

What a fantastic experience this garden and gallery is.....it's far from a museum as this was where Barbara worked, lived and sadly died in a fire in her studio. There are wonderful photographs of her life and the many famous buildings where her commissioned pieces adorn the exterior. Some of her personal belongings are also in the gallery. But it's the gardens and her studio that bring this place to life. There are numerous sculptures placed around her sheltered and tree dappled garden with benches to sit and enjoy their beauty. Looking into Barbara's studio, where her tools and overalls are still lying, has a feel of her imminent return. It was fascinating to see where she produced her magnificent works of art and very poignant to think a fire here took her life. If you can time your visit to coincide with a guided tour then take the opportunity to do this.

...go to this museum...i have been 2 times now and am returning next week...it is an oasis (i was fortunate on my first visit when the streets of st ives were jam packed to find the museum and garden empty)...second visit was just as good even re-exploring the garden in the rain...love it...

“Very interesting”

This is a very interesting sculpture garden. If you do go, it makes a world of difference to go for the guided talk and tour as well. It makes much more sense of everything. Beautiful garden and well worth visiting
