Owner description: Tate St Ives features work by iconic 20th century artists who lived and worked in the town, including Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth, demonstrating the role of St Ives in the story of modern art. This is combined with a new programme of large-scale seasonal shows, beginning with sculptor Rebecca Warren’s first major UK exhibition.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's good to be challenged by new experiences! The view from the gallery is superb.

As per other reviewers descriptions there is a very limited amount of art on display and given the area and art available why is there no permanent exhibition. If the current exhibition doesnt appeal to you then there is really nothing to see.
The Tate Cafe on the other hand is well worth a visit, lovely views, great cakes, relaxing place to pass some time with a cup of tea. Staff were friendly and helpful, service quick. We went there on 3 occasions and 2 of those were solely for tea/coffee and cake.

Of course, the exhibitions vary so the fact the two on show when we visited didn't inspire us doesn't count for much. Bu the building will always be worth a visit, interesting design, light and airy and the cafe on the top deck served interesting food surrounded by great views.

love everything about it, there is art for everyone there, and the café at the top overlooking the rooftops and the stunning views across the bay, and towards the little church WOW !. I could sit there all day with the coffee and cakes, then delicious lunch, and a glass or 2 of the Camel Valley Bachus dry white, best view ever from A TATE

We went to see the Alex Katz exhibition at the Tate and it was great. one of the best exhibitions I've seen at any gallery. The paintings were astonishingly good and their seaside subjects matched the location perfectly. The gallery itself is a beautiful building with stunning views out over the beach and sea. They also have a restuarant which serves great lunches. The shop has a good variety of gifts, books and art materials. All the staff we met were informative and helpful.
