We stayed at the Keep for two nights in October for my friends 50th birthday. I had read some of the reviews before booking and everything looked good from the reviews and I can honestly say that the reviews I read praising the B&B were spot on. It is clean and modern, a great location just around the corner from the Tate and the beach a few minutes from the centre of town. Mike and Carol are great host and were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great with fresh fruit and fresh orange juice and a daily special breakfast choice for example salmon, scrambled egg and bagel or you can have a lovely English breakfast To give you an ideal of the standard of the room and service we had for comparison I was working in Sicily the week before and I stayed at the Hilton there and the Keep beat Hilton hands down in every respect! Would highly recommend the Keep will definitely being going back there!

Having read the many excellent reviews already written on The Keep, all I can say is that I agree wholeheartedly with them all. It is rare to find a combination of location, quality accommodation and food coupled with the most essential X factor of all, excellent customer service. Carol and Mike are clearly passionate about their business and meticulous about the quality of their service at every level. They are both helpful and discrete. This is a perfect little hideaway and I will most certainly return. As a solo traveller I could not have asked for more.

Room Tip: Both rooms are lovely.

The Keep is in a top location, being right in the centre of St Ives, but still very quiet as it is tucked away. Mike and Carol were great hosts, and have obviously put a great deal of thought into making their guests comfortable. The rooms are stylish, beds extremely comfortable (great duvets!), and the breakfast delicious. An added bonus was the use of a car parking space. A perfect B&B for a quiet getaway without the kids.

So close to stunning Porthmear Beach that we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf in our (incredibly comfortable) bed at night. Carol and Mike's gem of a contemporary B&B is perfect for exploring St Ives, tucked into a quiet mews just around the corner from the Tate, Hepworth Museum and great foodie experiences like the Porthmear Beach Café and The Seafood Café. The reviews of The Keep don't exaggerate: from Carol & Mike's lovely welcome and offer of a hot drink on arrival, to the immaculate room with King-size bed and soft linen, fluffy towels in the well-appointed contemporary en suite, and excellent breakfast served in the friendly breakfast room the next morning. The attention to detail and willingness to offer every comfort made our stay a perfect home away from home experience.

We enjoyed our stay at The Keep very much. Carol & Mike were excellent hosts, offering great suggestions for dining & activities (hiking, etc.). The breakfasts were very good & facilities were clean and comfortable. There are lots of personal touches including wonderful art work in the room & shared guest area. The latter features seating, a small fridge, coffee & tea, some guidebooks & large TV screen (although each room has its own TV as well). The drive to the B&B is a bit hairy for those not used to negotiating small village streets, but this also means that the location of the B&B is very close to the beach, restaurants & other attractions. The room we stayed in had a window onto a spillway. It was a bit dark because of the lack of direct daylight and therefore had no view. However, on the plus side, it meant for very quiet sleeping with no street noise. All in all, a wonderful stay with delightful hosts. St. Ives is a fabulous village with some excellent dining and hiking.

We have stayed at The Keep two years running now and will most definitely be back. This lovely B and B is a perfect base to explore St. Ives being right in the middle of the town. The rooms are luxuriously appointed, with crisp linen and beautiful decor and a well equipped ensuite bathroom. The breakfasts are delicious and our hosts could not be more friendly and helpful. All in all hugely recommended.

I had chosen the Keep at the perfect place to celebrate my 50th birthday. Having stayed several times before I knew we would get 5 star, personalised treatment and so we did.

The room was immaculately clean and luxuriously comfortable (the Pilchard Press) and Carol and Mike even helped us carry in our luggage from the car. The breakfasts were delicious and well presented- liked the egg cosies with The Keep knitted into the pattern. We had a handmade Hello again chocolate bar and postcard to welcome us back.

Unknown to us the guests in the Mermaid press turned our to be my brother and his girlfriend- they had been plotting with Carol and Mike all year! Carol and Mike had even sorted a booking we had made to include the surprise guests.

For my birthday breakfast I had a special 50th birthday chocolate plaque from Carol and Mike, one of Mike's lovely photographic cards and an "everlasting candle" that played Happy Birthday- much to our amusement! Carol and Mike joined us for some champagne too, so it was like celebrating at a friend's house but with everything laid on for you- great food and comfortable, tasteful surroundings. I can't think of anywhere else you would get this personalised service.

The location in the centre of St Ives is perfect for exploring. As other reviews have said, Carol and Mike always have ideas of places to visit and new places to suggest (as we have stayed several times)

We are hoping to return shortly as we can't get enough of The Keep or St Ives- wish we got more holiday so we could go more often.

I have seen some other reviews of other places to stay in St Ives which offer "top class" accommodation but would suggest that The Keep offers this at value for money prices. We would say try it out- you wouldn't then want to stay anywhere else!
