“Brilliant Atmosphere”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

After a warm welcome on a very wet evening it was lovely to be seated in a place that envelopes you with warmth (they have a very good log burner). We visited in the evening as a local paper review had been complimentary about the Fillet Steak. The house white wine that I had was excellent and the Red Biodynamic wine also good. The starters, from the tapas menu were good but the steaks were very disappointing as they had been overcooked and cut through the middle. The other items with the meal were excellent, perhaps just do the Tapas as a table of 4 near us seemed to really enjoy the food they had. My partner had a pudding which was average. Very helpful staff which would make us go back! Wine shop fab. A bit pricey as we had steak. By the way I did not complain on the nigh (unusual for me) as we were having such a great evening due to atmosphere.

“Regularly Disappointing”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Well known location, cyclist's & other's natural break point. Full of promise: great staff, great menu, great deli & wines, super wood stove burner but everything falls short of the mark with mediocre to poor food. Everyone I know who has their own opinion agrees that Scarlet Wines looks better than it it.

“Still great!”
Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

I hadn't been to Scarlet's for a while for some reason but treated myself to lunch on Monday. Pleased to say that it's impeccable standards have been maintained! Friendly attentive service & delicious food. Notable that on a dull Monday lunchtime in February all the tables were occupied and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. A local gem.

“Imaginative and tasty food.”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Nice set up: restaurant with deli. Near the massive beach at Gwithian and theTowans so can have a long walk on the beach and then have a beer (good selection of bottled beers both local and European) and lunch. Or coffee (supplied by the very excellent Origin) and cake. The wood burner keeps it warm and cosy in the winter. There is a bit of outside seating, although by the road. Minor gripes: the lighting is poor - atmospheric but gloomy for reading the weekend papers and the beef in my sandwich was very tasty but a little chewy. I still ate every scrap! Staff were excellent.
