My wife and I ate at the Black Rock on our last of 6 nights in St Ives. We had eaten at 6 other 'top' restaurants on the other nights/lunchtimes. Black Rock beat the lot, hands down.
The restaurant is spacious, relaxing and comfortable. Service was charming and the chef introduced himself. And the food was fantastic - starters of crab salad followed by the best and largest rib eye steaks we've had - cooked to perfection. Great puddings and wine - and very reasonable prices.
We wish we'd eaten there several times more. This place is a must.....!

Me and my family went there last week and ate on the early evening menu, which is served between 6pm and 7pm, costing about £17 for 3 courses I think.
The meal started with some lovely bread and good starters - we all had the squid which was crisp and not overcooked or oily. For main course I had the bouillebase which was OK but not excellent. The fish in it was nicely cooked but I felt it could have done with more, and tastier sauce. Desserts were tasty though.

The service was friendly and helpful, but perhaps a little slow considering there were only 8 in the restaurant the whole time we were there.

Overall one of the best value restaurants in St Ives, not perfect but as good as if not better than some of it's more expensive rivals.

this restaurant is amazing value. We paid 16.95 for three courses(together with complimentary bread and oils which was of very high quality). This is less than the price of one course at some other restaurants in st ives and vegetables were included in this price. The food was very very good as was the friendly service. Why isn^t it full every night?Do yourselves a favour and try it next time you are in St Ives

This was our 4th visit to St Ives. We have tried several of the highly rated restaurants on previous trips and this time wanted to try out somewhere we hadn't been before.
We had had coffee there when it was a cook shop and cafe and enjoyed it but realised it was now a restaurant. We liked the look of the menu and booked up. We were not disappointed.
Every single part of the meal was delicious, very unusual flavours and beautifully presented. The waitress was delightful and very helpful. The only thing which was a shame was that we were the only people there that night. We spoke to the chef to congratulate him on his food. He clearly has a passion for what he does. Do go there. You will get a delightful meal in a very stylish restaurant..
We can't wait to go back when we are next in St Ives, hopefully very soon.

we visited in-between christmas and new year so it was fairly quiet outside, we were looking forward to dinner as the menu looked great...

we werent disappointed, the service was slow to get up to speed, but it was the first night opening after the christmas holidays...

the menu also had the old favourite Prosecco, a bottle after our G&Ts did us well.

the starters of local scallops and my partners beetroot and goats cheese salad were great looking dishes and beautifully cooked. We both plumped for the belly of pork whoch was perfectly cooked, soft and moist with great crackling.

we shared a pudding as we were already full from eating a large cream tea that afternoon, but the dessert of hazlenut and muscavado torte with home made sherry ice cream was a delight.

service had picked up by the mains and was a lot of fun and also very attentive, the chef also recognised us and was pleased to see us after we had popped in that afternoon to confirm our booking, all-in-all a great evening...

and the bathrooms had hot water and a hand dryer that worked perfectly (one of my pet hates!)
