The main reason for visiting The. Sloop was that they welcomed dogs in the snug. We were made to feel really welcome by the staff and the locals. We ordered 2 steak meals which came with a bottle of wine, a steak and ale pie and a couple of sides with a round of drinks. It cost less than £45. The food was DELICIOUS, we returned in the morning for breakfast and were just as delighted. In summer I can imagine it would be hard to get in so would recommend going in at quieter times of year. The tomatoes with breakfast were the tastiest I've ever had.

My husband and his parents ate at the Sloop Inn restaurant in December 2013. The food was the worst we have ever experienced - it made Fawlty Towers look like a five star experience! My husband was given a plate of mussels which resulted in bad food poisoning and completely spoiled our Christmas. His parents were served cold roast dinners. Upon complaining the waitress offered to re-heat them. When they came back, they were warmer but must have been heated with a blowtorch as the food was now burnt. No apology, nothing. This is the worst place we ate at during a month long visit to the UK. The Sloop is a lovely place for a pint, but strongly recommend you don't eat there or do so at your own risk!

Fab location, right on the harbour. Lovely old pub. We had 2 meals there, one in the dining room upstairs with its lower than low ceiling and one in the bar. We both really enjoyed the local fish and also the fact that at this time of year there were very few other places open that had an atmosphere.

The only reason im putting a review on here is the quirky pub, its so full of charm and part of St.Ives.
The downside is the beer , the real ale....sadly lets this place down ... either the beer isnt looked after or the staff havnt been shown how to pull a propper pint . No im no beer authority, I just like a pint I can drink which ive paid for. :(

This pub allows dogs in on leads. It has a varied menu. Food is good with large portions and reasonably priced. Would return.
