“Nice location but....”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

a bit grotty inside and unfortunately badly kept beer. I think that they are complacent because of the prime location right on the harbour. The outside seating area is, understandably, very popular but quality should not be sacrificed.

“Very nice experience”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

We were a group of four people( two couples) on a holiday in Cornwall and were visiting St Ives.
As we were enjoying a very warm and sunny day and feeling peckish across lunchtime we decided to stop of a bite to eat in the harbour area.
As we had our dogs with us we was pleasantly surprised that the sloop inn was dog friendly so we could take the dogs inside with us.
The interior of the inn reminded us of the below decks area of a ship; also a lot of original art work located on each wall which was available for sale.
The menu was a very decent array of meals along with a specials board too.
My wife and her sister opted for the same meal namely the ocean pie, I went with a Wiltshire honey roasted ham sandwich and my brother in law decided to have a banana split ice cream.

The ocean pie, I was informed, was delicious and very tasty with plenty of filling under a very fluffy piped mash potato topping. My sandwich consisted of flavoursome ham in a soft white bread with a little dressed salad and the banana split consisted of three scoops of ice cream flanked each side with banana topped with a raspberry on each scoop and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The banana split and the sandwich were equally delicious as the ocean pie. We have no hesitation in recommending the sloop inn as a place to eat.
The service was efficient even though the inn was extremely busy and the staff polite and courteous, the bar area can become a little crowded as patrons wait to purchase drinks, however giving its popularity this is to be expected.

“Delicious Seafood”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

My husband and I always visit the Sloop when we are in St Ives. It is a lovely old inn right on the harbour and serves good food at very reasonable prices. It has a lovely atmosphere and is always busy. We decided to give The Captain's Table a try. This is a restaurant is upstairs and from what we could see, gets very busy, so booking is probably advisable. It is nicely decorated in a contemporary style and was very comfortable. The waitress was charming and helpful. We both started with goat's cheese which was delicious. For our main course we had a seafood platter which consisted of half a lobster, crayfish tails, prawns, crabmeat, mussels and smoked salmon accompanied by a bowl of buttered Cornish new potatoes. It was superb. We were both absolutely stuffed but managed to share a lovely pudding of ice cream, strawberries, almond biscuit, espresso and Amaretto. It was washed down with a bottle of very nice wine. A thoroughly enjoyable meal at a very good price!

“Wonderful pub food and right on the front but gets very crowded”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Very impressed with the food here and the broad menu. Fish was excellent quality and reasonably priced wine. So good, ate here two consecutive nights. Gets crowded but tables become available. Later in the evening very crowded and hard to get served drinks. Tables outside very busy as it is the only pub where you can sit outside and what a view!
