“TOTAL RIP OFF - don't stay there!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

We are a couple in our late 40's - we booked 1 night at the Beechwood - it totally wasn't worth the £86 we were charged (and paid for before we got to see the room!) - the room was tiny (though to be fair it did say small double on the website) it was clean enough but too much furniture for such a tiny space and the loo didn't have a proper flush system but some kind of electric toilet - very noisy. Totally disappointed and would never go back. We left without our breakfast as we just didn't fancy eating there. Don't know how people can write such gushing reviews about the place. The lovely old villa style house has be ruined by dividing in to as many rooms as possible - the doors were of some cheap wood and were made - it was all very ugly....just a warning! don't be taken in by the photos!

Room Tip: Just don't pay anywhere like £86 a this place - should be more like £40! and don't choose th...

We booked the Beechwood on spec from the web but when we arrived we immediately felt it wasn't worth its high price tag (£80 per night).
The room was very small and the bathroom you could barely turn around in furniture mediocre and bed was only moderately comfortable.
We were intending to stay two nights but decided to move on after one.
I would not say that this hotel is value for money compared to others in the area.
It is a long walk into St. Ives with steep hills to coastal path

I headed to Cornwall on my own for a week to unwind walk, swim, read etc and chose the Beechwood quite by chance from a last minute google search - google came up trumps I had a smashing holiday so much so that im now filling in my first trip advisor review. The hotel/B&B is on the main road in to st.ives so its easy to find, and the coastal path runs close by so you can be out in the countryside looking at the beaches right away. Peter and Janet create a very warm and welcoming environment, and would make a great comedy double act if they ever wanted to change carears! Food, bed, shower etc where all excellent. In short I am planning to go back again and I would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed for two nights last weekend for our wedding anniversary treat. This b&b is just outside St Ives so there is plenty of parking space. Also on bus/train route, but walked into St Ives on the coastal path which gives spectacular views and is not far. Owners Pete and Jan made us very welcome, Jan did lovely english breakfast, but loads of choice if wanted anything else. Lovely fresh, clean rooms and super dupa showers. Have already booked for easter weekend! Also had a couple of drinks in the bar with the owners who are very friendly and Pete's knowledge about the area was second to none.

Room Tip: rooms on front of property have sea views

Stayed 2 nights, great location on main rd to st. ives, no need to drive , had a great night out in st. ives, returned back to the beechwood and was invited for a drink with the owners and other guests, pete and jan were very friendly and had us laughing at their b&b stories.our room was top class and so was the relaxing breakfast. Have booked again for next summer.

Room Tip: try to get a sea view room on front.

This hotel in Carbis Bay is on the main road through to St Ives. However, 50 yards away was the coastal path to St Ives (1 1/2 miles) which we walked with ease passing many of the beautiful beaches.
The accommodation was clean & bright, The full English breakfast was okay - bacon was obviously cooked many hours before hand so was rather chewy. We paid £86.00 which we actually thought was quite expensive. The landlord was really nice and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Oh, and our bed was sooooo squeaky! Every time you moved about it squeaked endlessly...

Room Tip: Request a room at the back of the hotel
