“A fantastic time in Carbis Bay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2009

I stayed at the Tregorran back last August and how impressed I was!
I stayed for a week, and after a long day and a flight down I was pleased to be welcomed to comfortable bed and a fresh clean en suite the next morning.
Breakfast was of the same high quality too, a good selection of cereals and fresh fruit to start followed by either a traditional breakfast or fish special - all locally sourced! Fresh coffee was a winner too!
The views over the bay from my room's window were mind-blowing; recommended to anyone and everyone. There is also a new heated outdoor pool with decking area. An ideal place to come back to after a day on the beach to relax with a drink.
After dinner there's a warm bar area, great for meeting with the other residents and sharing ideas on what to do! The staff are happy to do a little extra too, warming my baby's bottles and heating his food too.
I'd thoroughly recommend the Tregorran to my friends and look forward to going back soon!

Came here for a short break with my girlfriend and had a fantastic time. The hotel is a lovely, family run place with a great pool and beautiful views across the bay to St. Ives. The staff were always helpful and a good chat was always had at the bar!

We have been staying at the Tregorran for the last ten years. The first time it was just my husband and I and at the time, we thought what an ideal place it would be to bring the grandchildren for family holidays. Since then we have returned every year with our three grandchildren because we all thoroughly enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.

We have met several other families who have stayed there regularly. The decking area (which has a fantastic view of St. Ives and the surrounding coastline) is the ideal place to sit and chat with other parents/grandparents while the children are playing in the pool with other children and sometimes with the proprietor’s children, who are always polite and well behaved.

The Tregorran is child-friendly and Russell and Lee Nee go out of their way to make you feel at home and nothing is too much trouble for them or their staff, who are friendly and helpful at all times. Our sea-view family room on two levels is always kept spotlessly clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, milk etc. and the beds are comfortable. There is plenty of room for parking and there is a good breakfast menu, which varies from day to day. There is a friendly bar/lounge where you can have a relaxing drink in the evening.

Carbis Bay has a beautiful safe beach and it is ideal for swimming and bodyboarding because the surf is not too rough, unlike some of the other bays on the Atlantic coast. There are plenty of places to eat out in Carbis Bay or nearby St. Ives and the surrounding areas. There are plenty of activities for the children and adults, i.e. Flambards, Maize Maize, Self drive boats from St. Ives to mention but a few.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our holidays at the Tregorran and are booked in for August 2009 and we are all looking forward to it!

A big thank you to Russell and Lee Nee for making us feel at home for so many years.

Helena and Alan, Sandy, Beds.

Arriving at the Tregorran the first thing that was noticed is the warm and friendly feel about the place.

The views over the bay and towards St Ives are breath taking, With plenty to see and do in the town, we were always kept busy and happy. The beaches in and around St Ives (only a moments walk from the hotel) are fantastic and great for the kids.

Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, and the atmosphere in the evening around the bar was always good fun.

Cleanliness is always of importance and at the Tregorran everything had been taken care of, the room was clean, tidy and well equipped.

A few party members are very fussy eaters, however everybody was satisfied when it came to breakfast time, with a great choice of food.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience with many fond memories and without doubt we will be back next year!

Pros: Decent location close to a train station and Coastal Path to St Ives (1.5 miles walking). Lovely deck and heated swimming pool with nice view of Carbis Bay and the beach. Plenty of parking.

Cons: Has the feel of a dowdy English boarding house. Small cramped rooms with uncomfortable beds, tired furnishings, broken shower tap, and a pervasive musty/mildewed smell throughout. Paper-thin sheets are not changed during your stay and the towels, when changed, are likely to be damp. Standard 'full English' breakfast is poorly prepared and served. No internet service available.
