“Best bed and breakfast out of 15 I used in June”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Cycled from John O groats to Lands End in June and slept in 15 bed and breakfasts. The good wine was definitely kept until last. Warm welcome to a tired traveller. Quaint and beautifully designed small room. Helpful and welcoming host. Breakfast was delightful. Bread, coffeee, eggs: all wonderful. Food is sourced in small local shops. Clealiness of a superior standard throughout. I was permitted to keep my bike overnight in the dining room as there is no outside secure storage. Great place to stay and great host. Thank you, I will be back.

we had read the excellent reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed;-we had to change the dates of our booking (due to a bereavement)however, tim was more than accommodating, giving us a better room with a fantastic view of the harbour. breakfasts were delicious with a wide choice of fresh fruits, cereals, preserves and different cooked options, including a good choice for veggies(like me!)-location is excellent, central but tucked away and the accommodation was clean comfortable and stylishly furnished/decorated(the additon of Harvey the resident cat was an added bonus). we were able to leave bags on our day of departure as we had a late train to catch-this meant we were able to spend a good day on the beach. we will definately be back to stay at cornerways again;thanks.

The location was great and right in the centre of the shops ans amenities only downside i would mention is access to the hotel in a car as it was very hard to locate and navigate in the small streets especially when using the sat-nav! Tim and the rest of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and i would definately recommend staying here and would stay here again myself

I stayed at Cornerways for a week. The location is fantastic right in the heart of St. Ives and a stone's throw from the harbour. I think my room was called Jamaica. It was ok, although it didn't have the promised fridge or DVD player or complimentary water. The cleaning, however, was not very thorough. Breakfasts were nice, especially the fresh fruit every morning, but unfortunately no fried bread.
If you want to make use of the complementary tickets for the Tate or Hepworth museum, make sure you get the tickets from Tim in advance or you might end up waiting for a long time or not being able to go.

Stayed one night during walking tour of south west coast path. The B&B is stylishly decorated and in an ideal location in the heart of St. Ives. Some rooms, including 'Rebecca' - see photo - have harbour views (over rooftops), but are also very quiet. Tim's breakfast is an artwork in itself, beautifully presented, copious and delicious(just don't expect it to come in a hurry!). Highly recommended.

After deciding to get married in Penzance we then booked a cottage in st Ives and a night in corner ways guest house for our wedding night. I have to say it was by far the best b + b I have ever stayed in. We arrived to be greeted by a wedding card signed by tim and Shelley which was a nice little touch then to move on to the room which was stunning well designed and offered breathtaking views of the harbour. Tim couldn't do enough for us and was the most pleasant and charming host. Then we woke up and went down to the stunning dining room to be greeted by breakfast a mix of cereal, fresh fruit, orange juice fresh coffee and the most glorious cooked breakfast ever! Overall our stay was first class and I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: All rooms look fantastic

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Spend your holidays with us in Downalong, a labyrinth of cobbled lanes which used to be the fisherman's quarter in the oldest part of St Ives. Cornerways was built in the 1830s and has been a Guest House for over 70 years. Only 50 yards from the harbour, beaches and restaurants, Daphne Du Maurier stayed here in the 1940's. The Tate Gallery, for which we provide complimentary tickets, and St Ives Art School are only 150 yards away. Two of our rooms overlook the harbour and bay beyond. With a modern feel that echoes the artists’ quarter in which it sits, Cornerways’ rooms have been renovated and totally redecorated over the last 7 years and all have new en-suites. All bedrooms have LCD TVs, DVD Players, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, fridges and complimentary Cornish bottled water. The 3' thick Cornish Granite walls and no passing traffic will ensure you a snug & quiet night’s sleep.Breakfast is served in the uncrowded dining room with only fresh produce being used. We also cater for vegetarians. Fresh local fish is available daily, which includes smoked salmon, local mackerel, kippers and smoked haddock. Tim & Shelley ... more   less
