“Lovely Central St Ives Hotel”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

We visited the Hotel during the recent St Ives September Festival. Our room was beautifully and recently decorated and refurbished with a tasteful seashore theme. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast first rate with home made muesli and bread and excellent bacon. We did not try the pub food but the beer was great and the menu interesting and inventive. Although work was going on in the Hotel the builders were considerate and the room was very quiet (especially as it was over a pub and in the centre of St Ives).

We stayed here beginning of Sept 2011 - Room 1. Owner asked for the £400 as soon as we arrived (Before viewing the room) for our 4 night stay. Stairs to bedrooms were covered in plastic sheeting on all 4 days - 2 fire doors constantly wedged open (Workmen daily from 9.00am) Latex glove covering the smoke detector on our floor (4 days) Mascerator on our toilet malfunctioning for 3 of the 4 days - excrement and toilet waste all over the bathroom floor.
Couldn't wait to leave this establishment - an accident waiting to happen.

Disappointed that the owners have not appologised for the poor experience we encountered - perhaps they don't care........

We stayed here in early September for two nights. I would agree with recent reviews that they've done a great job renovating and it's a really pleasant place to stay.

It is in a very convenient, central location (we travelled by train - just a short walk to the station). The rooms seem quiet despite being on a main road and above a pub.

The breakfast that was included was very good and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We also had lunch in the pub one day and that was very enjoyable too.

Overall, highly recommended!

Myself and my fiance stayed at the Queens Hotel this weekend just gone and we were pleasantly surprised. I knew it was situated on the High Street near lots of different shops and pubs and was expecting a certain amount of noise level at night. We were in room 4 at the back of the building and found that there was hardly any noise issues (this was peak season on a weekend too) We could occasionally here a few people but it was not an issue. Rooms 4 and 5 are at the back - I can't speak for the other rooms!
Also, our room was very light and inviting and most of all clean! The staff were very friendly and the main pub was very tastfully decorated and had a nice vibe - it was not busy during the day which was nice.
The only thing I'd say was that the water pressure on the shower was terrible on an evening, not so bad on a morning funnily. Also, the toilet was electric and extremely noisy at night if someone from next door flushed theirs it did wake me up once!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return (maybe in off-season though as it was rather expensive!!)

This was my 5th visit to St Ives and it was the best place I've stayed in. Lovely room, great breakfasts, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend it.

We had the family room for one night and it was lovely, clean, had plenty of storage space and was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was spotless with plenty of clean towels, the beds were very comfy with fresh, crisp, clean linen. The staff were very friendly and polite and the breakfast was also very good. My only gripe is that we couldn't lock the door from the inside, and having a two year old this was a bit of a problem as she's a great escapologist, so we had to baricade the door the stop her getting out, and of course people getting in!!! Other than this we would definatley stay here again and infact we probably will next year! Would reccommend!
