“Very dissapointed”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We were really looking forward to staying here just after Christmas, but were very dissapointed. The hotel needs a serious lick of paint and an upgrade, fine if you are charging small prices but at £165 a night we definitely expected better. We stayed in Biology, a large room which was quite well decorated but it was December and it was cold, one small radiator plus a plug in oil filled one were just not enough to heat a room that size and no heating at all in the bathroom. The towels were very clean but badly frayed, not what I was expecting at all, and no hairdryer, surely for these prices this should be standard. Not all was bad, the bed was wonderful, one of the best we have ever slept in and the views are fabulous. Parking is a bonus but it is very tight. We did not eat there so I have no comment, would we stay there again ? Definitely not, it felt like everything was done to the bare minimum and they are cashing in on their position in the village.

“Good food with good service”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

Booked a meal here for a December evening expecting that if we turned up we would not get a table. We were the only two in the restaurant and hence the low atmosphere score, apparently had been fuller earlier on as they did a fish special That said the food was great and the staff very friendly and helpful, not sure if in area would return as there are several good looking restaurants in area.

“A disappointing meal”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Tried this restaurant during a very quiet December evening - fish pie that was advertised on the menu was no longer available so my wife and I chose to have steak which turned out to be a rather tasteless piece of sirloin draped over potato wedges which tasted as thought they had been reheated and 3 or 4 green beans and rocket on top covered in a watery gravy. I wonder if the chef tasted any of it? Having said that we were served by a very efficient and pleasant young waitress.

“Friendly staff, delicious food, well worth a visit!”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

We did not stay here but we were staying in the nearby village of Tintagel and decided to eat out in Port Isaac one night. Recommended by a friend that has stayed here previously we decided it was the place for us. It was a very quite November evening and we walked in to a empty bar. There was no awkwardness and we felt very welcome as the staff were very friendly and down to earth. We sat in the bar area, ordered our food and when it was ready we were seated in the resturant. I had the Rump steak and it was beautifully cooked and a massive portion (I tried my best to finish it all) and my veggie boyfriend had the field mushrooms which wasn't as big but he said it was delicious and not the usual boring veggie option that it usually available. Reasonably priced, delicious food, would recommed.
