We were booked into this hotel for 3 days and were really looking forward to the short break. We were not disappointed. The room we had looked out over unspoilt countryside and the sea. The room was tastefully decorated, the bed linen scrupulously clean. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room as well. We thought we would try the restaurant the first night, we were very impressed. Service was exellent, Maitre D was Juanquim. obviously Spanish with an excellent command of English (he went to Cambridge) his English wife served the meals. We had starters, which were delicious and both had the fish pie, which was really delicious. The weather was not kind to us and the traffic was horrendous, a 23 mile journey took 2 hours. We dined in the hotel the second night and had an equally delicious meal. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

We chose the Longcross Hotel because of its proximity to Port Isaac, one of our main destinations in this area. Parking in the actual village is almost impossible, so staying outside the village is best if you have a car. Although it is walking distance to the center, we drove and parked in the car park at the top of the village, a short walk away. The hotel is lovely on the outside, has great views and the lobby area and bar have character. Our room was just at the top of the staircase. The room itself had a beautiful view, a comfortable bed and decent furniture. My only complaint is the bathroom. It was small, which was fine, but I don't like carpeting in a bathroom. I just don't feel it is sanitary. There was also some mold around the shower which should have been attended to. The room was relatively clean but there was no bottled water provided and the complementary cookies were not replenished. (Not really a big deal but I just wanted to mention it.) Our friends that were with us did mention that there was a lot of dust under their bed although I thought our room was pretty clean. The staff was friendly as a hotel staff is expected to be. Definitely not the same warmth as you would get in a B&B. The food at the restaurant was pretty good and the waiter was delightful. The bartenders were also very friendly and helpful. This hotel has a lot of potential if the owners would just clean up the carpets, tile the bathrooms and provide some better bathroom amenities. For the price, I expected a little better quality.

Room Tip: If you want quiet at night, do not choose the room at the top of the staircase. You can hear the bar...

My daughters wedding was superbly looked after by James and Jane and the staff. Cannot fault the professionalism, food or rooms and ideal gardens. Everything ran like clockwork but very. So helpful and we had a superb day. Very flexible and in the evening everything was there for band and disco, buffet etc .Highly recommend this venue for the complete wedding

Travelled to the longcross hotel from Hertfordshire, along with many other family and friends from around the country, for our sons wedding. This was a weekend to remember and everyone said so; great location overlooking the coastline and sea.
The staff should be extremely proud for effectively throwing themselves into every aspect of pleasing us all. We effectively took over the hotel but nothing was too much trouble and any requests were actioned politely and efficiently. The food from the wedding feast to morning breakfasts was of the highest standard and pleasingly plentiful.
Thanks to all the staff involved from Jane and James who fronted the hotel to the hard working staff behind the scenes. Even the registrar enjoyed the occasion and location!
We will return here to visit our new cornish relatives, a happy place!

Room Tip: Ask the staff before you book, they have many different rooms to suit your individual requirements...

We stayed at The Longcross to attend a wedding. The views are beautiful and we could not fault that. Also a nice little play area for children to play in.

Unfortunately the same could not be said for the guest rooms. The rooms are a good size. We stayed in a family room as we have a young child and needed a pull out bed. The room rate was £150 per night and we had to pay an extra £30 per night for the foldaway bed which we thought was excessive as the room is already at an additional premium price because it is a larger room. For £180 per night, we expected 4* quality but the room was dusty, a mish mash of furniture /ornaments and wires and routers exposed and left lying on the floor - not ideal with small children.

We were even more disappointed with the bathroom which was small and very basic with dirty carpet and mildew around the old shower and bath. We felt for the price, the hotel should use better amenities in the bathroom instead of the very 'economy' ones you might find in a 2* star hotel.

Breakfast was very nice with a lovely helpful lady serving us. Breakfast timing a little rigid from 8.30 - 9.30am. The hotel manger was very pleasant at check in and at the bar. The housekeeping lady was also very polite and pleasant and did wait for us to get ready for the wedding before cleaning our room.

I'm sorry to have to give this hotel a poor review. We have stayed in many beautiful hotels around the world and feel this hotel could do with some TLC from the owners or the room rate should be reduced so future guests aren't disappointed with what they get. The view from our friends who also stayed at the hotel was mutual.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a four poster bed but very run down bathroom

Longcross is just outside Port Isaac, and slightly inland, and I'd not have thought have staying here when visiting as didn't know It existed. Found this gem on Trip Advisor as all other hotels in Port Isaac were booked. James sorted our rooms for us when we arrived and very kindly upgraded us from two rooms to a suite in the Coach House, at no extra charge. Brilliant as we are a family of four so were all together had plenty of space. Our two boys were thrilled to have their own sitting room! Amazing views from a lovely large and modern drinks terrace, though the hotel itself is old and charming; it used to be a "gentlemans house", according to James. Port isaac is a lovely 30 min walk through fields on a public footpath. Definately worth a visit, just glad we found it on trip advisor!
