Having read some excellent reviews of The Old Bakehouse we arrived hoping that it would live up to expectations. We were happy that it definitely did not disappoint! The apartment is a fantastic place to stay, literally in the heart of Port Isaac. The Old Bakehouse is light and airy with everything that you could want in a home from home, from a comfy bed right down to the iPod speakers. The fact that you can be back there in less than 2 minutes after eating some wonderful fresh seafood in The Mote, The Harbour or The Slipway, or chatting to the locals over a pint of cider in The Golden Lion, just makes it even better. The hill is something of a challenge with bags but it was worth it! Port Isaac itself is a beautiful harbour and a great place from which to explore Cornwall. The owner is very helpful in suggesting local attractions and provided lots of information about the apartment and local amenities. The wifi code for a local cafe was also available and worked well. We had a wonderful week (with mostly wonderful weather to match!) and will definitely be back!

If you are one person, or a couple, or even a couple with an infant, my wife and I could not suggest a better location for a great visit to a charming and working fishing village on the coast of Cornwall. Located at the central corner of the harbor, but very quiet (on the top floor, with the loudest sound being the muted thud of a sea gull landing on the roof), The Old Bakehouse offers all that a visitor could want in quality, cleanliness, and amenity. Period. And Port Isaac, contrary to what some might think, is not a sleepy fishing harbor--great restaurants, many interesting shops, splendid walks, and a wonderful pub, with little sign that Doc Martin is the popular label for the town, other than the fanciful expectation that one is likely to see him striding around (he does not, except for when the series is filmed, apparently during a short period in alternate years). Enjoy yourselves! (WiFi access, though not offered directly, is readily available from nearby enterprises.) We could happily have spent an additional week, even were the weather less than ideal.

Port Isaac might be where they film Doc Martin but it's for hardy sorts who are able to stride up and down steep hills with their weekend bags - we weren't brave enough to drive down having made a preliminary recce and left the car up top. However this is what keeps the town authentic. We enjoyed a delicious supper of mussels, crab salad and local beef washed down with a perfectly chilled bottle of Camelford dry white at the quirky Mote restaurant housed in the second oldest building in the port. In two minutes we were safely ensconced upstairs in our light and airy apartment in the Old Bakehouse - a home from home where we could plug in our ipods and chill. Hot water for a relaxing bath, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and immaculately clean with a warm and sunny rooftop aspect to watch the inquisitive seagulls. A short drive away is Rock and its beautiful beaches and the small ferry to Padstow (£3 return) where more'ish Chough Bakery pasties await for lunch and Cornish ice cream. A perfect recipe for a relaxing weekend.

This is a great little self catering flat right in the centre of Port Isaac. It's clean and well furnished, and offers everything you could want from a holiday let. The owner was helpful in arranging the booking, and our deposit was returned promptly. Highly recommended.

The apartment was immaculate, and in the centre of Port Isaac, which is a stunningly beautiful Cornish fishing village. The kitchen was well-equipped with utensils etc, and the apartment comfortable and quiet. We had a great break and would recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful break.
